Than whine they want more breaks  I should have drowned that little conservative when I had the chance  Course he says he is doing a good deed, buying blocks of pharmacuitals at rock bottom prices and donating them to third world countries and getting a big fat tax credit, from the feds...of course at the market value here....See what I mean greedy little prick!

Well P you could always go into a R & D job and get gov funding too. Just a thought don't swing at me now.

Oh to hear the conversations at YOUR family reunions. And I thought my brother had it bad, being married to a militant nurse, and he a staunch conservative type. Pea, you win, hands down. Do you go for the two out of three falls, or is there outside interference?

RE: Question for Albertan

Because without the diversity that Canada offers, there would be nobody left in Alberta but loud-mouthed Schnooks?

If you have to ask the question, you are incapable of understanding the answer.

Alberta should separate. Who needs them. Bunch of crybabies always wanting to take ther ball... er... oil with them. Better we let them go rather than put up with all the whining. The sooner they're gone the sooner we can get on with building utopia.

hmmm. Be better if the Alberta population left as the land /resources belongs to Canada. ( borrowing this from another wise poster on here ---modified. Credit where credit is due)

Here is another question that pertains to this thread. Why should Alberta stay in Canada?

Such arrogance in only one hundred years. Properity comes and goes in cycles. What happens when Alberta goes into that downward part? How long has Alberta been a have province? Who was taking care of Alberta before Leduc #1? What happens when the oil runs out? What happens if the demand dwindles.

In the short term, Alberta probably would be okay as a separate nation, but what about in one hundred years? Don't you have any foresight? The Alberta you boast so much arrogance about today is very different than the one of your grandparents and the one that will be for your grandchildren.

Sorry, if Alberta's malcontents are so unhappy.....THEY can exodus to Montana or whereever. The land/resources they live on , thrive on belong to CANADA.

and no Alberta is not for sale.

If a non oil based alternative fuel source is discovered that would kill the oil business pretty quick.

It's only a matter of time. Oil is a dirty and inefficient fuel source. It's limitations are starting to show. Nothing can stop progress, not even J.R. Ewing!

As I have said on numerous posts, if we could quit wasting money on theft and corruption and reduce/eliminate transfer payments, let the provinces keep their money, Alberta would use this money to develop alternative energy resources, and technology to use in the energy industry. But then wasting that money on Quebec ad agencies, liberal money laundering, unnecessary daycare programs to duplicate existing programs, useless and horribly over budget gun registries, thats obviously a better use of money, some of which comes from transfer payments.

You folks who say we whine should get it straight. Very few Albertans, including me, would complain if the above wastes did not happen. Some say that you get tired of hearing about the money issue. Quit wasting it, and no one will complain. But its sure easy to say Albertans whine when they pay and you receive. Fiscal responsibility is all that is asked, but even that request gets trivialized and demonized. Quit wasting the money, people will quit whining.

Oil isn't just fuel though. Virtually everthing we have is made from oil, including your computers and, most likely, the fabric in your clothes. That's the really hideous thing about burning it as a fuel...we are wasting it.

It is its use as a fuel that keeps the demand high and the price up though, and a shift to a better fuel will lead to a downturn in the Alberta economy. Something that amazes me about the Alberta separatist attitude is how short their memories are. 20 years ago Alberta went bust. Buildings went empty and property values crashed.

Alberta went bust as you call it for one simple reason; THE NEP. No other reason at all. Trudeau targetted one province and one industry, and then proceeded to rape it, driving all the rigs out of the province. I know. I watched them go down the highway to Coutts, why? Because the price was artificially held down by an arrogant liberal prime minister and government making it unfeasible for the rigs to stay.. Yet despite that intentional rape, Alberta has recovered, through provincial programs, not federal programs, and the rigs and industry came back. And if anyone says otherwise, they are lieing through their teeth, and trivializing those who lost their jobs, careers, homes, families, and in some cases their lives. Don't you dare marginalize them, they did not then and do not deserve it now.
