OH MY...wow, who would have thought such nice Canadians could be so disgustinly rude. Soon people will be pushing for Newfoundland and Labradour to seperate as well. I hate to say it, but you all sound like a bunch of George W's. People wonder why Quebec has such a huge problem with Canada and why they feel alienated...ummm just read what you all just said and then maybe you will know. How would you feel if a bunch of people...supposeably your friends...tell you how much they hate you and wish you would leave. That would kinda make you think about leaving. AHHHH this type of uneducated, ignorant crap is the type of stuff that as a Canadian we are supposed to stop. Canadians are known for their willingness to accept others, and constantly go and fight and promote equality...but apparently we don't fight for it at home. People wonder why the world is so messed up...this is the type of crap that is responsible. And for those of you reading my comment saying well it is my right to have an opinion...remember that thing your mom always said, if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. All that you are doing by writing and speaking like this is causing more regional problems in Canada. Quite frankly i dont think that Quebec is at fault, the east or the west for that matter, not even Ottawa...I think that people with these ignorant attitudes are, and i would like YOU to leave MY COUNTRY.

I too very much dislike the animosity between language and culture within Canada.
And yes, it sometimes shames me to read what one group writes about the other.

In response to what DasFX had to say, I would gladly accept atlantic Canada as being a part of the USA much more than I would it being a part of quebec. At least then I would not have to listen to people such as yourselves who take not having french forced upon them for granted.

Well unfortunately for you most Maritimers would not like to be part of the States and become Americans. If you enjoy the way America works, why not go. Houlton, Maine is only 125km away. If you leave now, you could be there by noon to have a nice unilingual lunch, right before they ship you off to Iraq!

Could you explain how French is being forced on you? I've met lots of folks from New Brunswick and have traveled throughout the province, never have I heard these types of comments.

Don't be an American by singling out everyone because of a few people, thats prejudice.

I don't understand who an aversion to a culture/language, and being an opponenet of secession would make one a racist? I think the people of Quebec should be happy that their country lets them have their own language, and gives them the opportunity to vote on secession. Could you imagine what would happen if Arizona adopted Spanish as its official language and attempted to secede from the States? Charles de Gaulle is dead, and so should the concept of 'Vive le Quebec libre' should die with. de Gaulle's speech comparing Quebec to France during WW2 is the most overblown piece of BS I have ever read. He honors all of those Canadians who died liberating France by refusing to raise the Canadian flag on the ship he took into Canada(a violation of international law), and pubicly denounces a people who sacrificed their lives to liberate a country thousands of miles away.
