Ah, now based on this post and all the other threads you've made, and your constant calls to drop the monarchy, I finally see what you're really pushing for in these forums.

You just want to drop our British ties and move towards the US more.

Out of the pan and into the fryer..... meet the new boss, same as the old boss.... *sings a tune*

Good plan. Move closer to the USA as it political problems become greater and greater. I am in the presence of a great strategic thinker. Wow, I never knew. You should apply at some of those think tanks, they don't know what they're missing. You'll get hired in a flash, I'm sure.

Lose the monarchy, we become more American. It's automatic to some, not me.

This reveals a weak sense of being Canadian.

Though this might be a fair statement of fact, it's a poor criticism: no one ever forced Russia or any other nation to trade in US dollars, trade with the US, lend to the US, etc.

To be fair, other countries are equally responsible for having turned a blind eye to the US' excesses when it benefitted them, and are only now criticizing it now that it hurts them. On that front, we all share responsibility.

I'll add to this that had other countries not turned a blind eye, the US would have had a hard time borrowing money and maintaining the value of its currency long ago, long before it ever reached a crisis point. As an aanlogy, should I lend money to someone who has a track record of not paying his bills, and then he declares bankruptcy and I lose the money I'd lent him, at the end of the day I'm just as responsible as he is for having lent hom money when it was obviousl he wasn't able to pay to begin with.

So in like manner, if I lend the US money when I know it's already up to its chin in debt, and it can't pay me back, well, I hold some of the blame too for not having been a responsible lender, right?

Totally, Putin is following a key rule of international geopolitics, kick the other guy when he's down to help your own. Which doesn't make the world a better place, but it never was a pretty place. Countries use the USA buck because it works for them, now Russia and China want to use their own currencies now simply because they can, and it raises both. Imperial overreach creates sensitive weak spots for others to exploit.
