Here's what I found on the subject:

'Purchasing sexual services and communicating in any place for that purpose is now a criminal offence for the first time in Canadian criminal law. A person convicted of this new offence may be sentenced to up to 5 years imprisonment if prosecuted on indictment, and 18 months if prosecuted by summary conviction. Mandatory minimum fines also apply, including higher mandatory minimum fines if the offence is committed in a public place that is or is next to parks, schools, religious institutions or places where children can reasonably be expected to be present. A person convicted of purchasing sexual services from a person under the age of 18 years may be sentenced to up to 10 years imprisonment. Mandatory minimum penalties of 6 months imprisonment for a first offence and one year for subsequent offences also apply.
The new purchasing offence applies to transactions that take place over the Internet, such as paying someone to provide a sexual service in front of a webcam.'

That's why I favour making fornication itself a fine-able offencef
Good frickin' luck with that.

Or one of the oldest oppressions in the world.

Oh get over yourself already. There happen to be women who choose this profession of their own free will. Grant it that there are others who are forced into it by pimps which is why I favor complete legalization with conditions. The women should have to live in brothels, have regular medical check-ups and have their clients come to them. Though, I doubt that would completely do away with street prostitution but it would be a good start.

I don't think there's much political will to do that so it's not something I'm pushing for. I still think it should be done though as a way to curb prostitution, sex trafficking, and HIV, and divorces. People could still do it illegally, but it would at least curb its occurrence as it would go underground and so reduce the harm done whether it involves sex trafficking, the spread the HIV, etc.

You don't think there's much political will to do away with fornication, eh. I'd take a wild guess and say that there is ZERO, ZILCH, NADA will to do so. Even our idiot PM has been known to do so...........unless of course you figure his kids were virgin births.

Are you confusing fornication with sex? Not all sexual acts involve fornication.

What are your thoughts on this? Some are in favour of legalizing others not so much. Personally I think it will be legalized just like pot. What are your though on this should prostitution be legalized in Canada or are you against it?

How should it be legalized?

The prostitution, whether publicly or secretly, is forbidden.

Quran 7: 33, which means:
(Say [Mohammed]: "My Lord has only forbidden the fornication, such as be public and such be secret,
and the [consumption of] wine,
and to trespass [against people] undeservedly,
and [He has forbidden] that you [people] should associate, with God, that for which He did not reveal any warrant [in the heavenly books],
and [He has forbidden] that you say against God [words] that you do not know.
)

That verse addresses fornication more generally, not prostitution only.

'Trudeau first met Sophie Grégoire when they were both children growing up in Montreal; Grégoire was a classmate and childhood friend of Trudeau's youngest brother, Michel.[263] They reconnected as adults in June 2003, when Grégoire, by then a Quebec television personality, was assigned as Trudeau's co-host for a charity ball; they began dating several months later. Trudeau and Grégoire became engaged in October 2004, and married on May 28, 2005, in a Roman Catholic ceremony at Montreal's Sainte-Madeleine d'Outremont Church.[264] They have three children: Xavier James (born October 18, 2007),Ella-Grace Margaret (born February 5, 2009) and Hadrien Grégoire (born February 28, 2014).'

Unlicensed street hookers. Not the same as licensed adult service providers.
