Ya got me. May 2011. The 5 years is an election must be called within 5 years of the previous. So the "full" 5 years is not carved in stone. If the sitting majority government wants to call an election after 2 years, they can. Any time within the 5 years.

Yep, generally you don't get more than 35- 40 days notice of when it will be. In B.C. now the dates are set in advance for pretty well exactly 4 years, but that only been the case for the past one or two elections.
