If this is indeed a proven fact, then legalisation makes sense. During prohibition smaller volumes of stronger product are easier to hide. That's an interesting point.
Another interesting point is people don't want to get sh*t fat ed and crash their car, get into a police chase and get mauled by the dogs, when they try the herb.
They just want a good buzz.
People come undone with edibles as it takes a while for the buzz to set in.
Haste makes wasted.
A guy at work - Little Dave the Scouser - told me once that a few years ago he was spending a Saturday just smoking loads of cannabis at a mate's house and when he went home that night he just flew there.

Probably. But he's only about 4ft tall, so if it was windy that night it could have just been the wind.
You know you can put a joint out and relight it later, roll pin joints, a couple puffs in a pipe and only have a bite of a cookie or 5mg 10mg 25mg 50mg 100mg capsules. A 25mg capsule is my limit. Even then it's touch and go. Sometimes I'll nod off but mainly it's just right but that is all because of CBN. You wouldn't drink a whole 66oz of liquor in one sitting just because its there would you?
For me weed is like Scotch or wine. I enjoy the different flavours, aromas, and various effects amongst the plethora of cultivars. Hash is my favourite.
I have about 3 dozen jars of various weeds as well as hashes and oils from each.
If you can't moderate yourself perhaps you shouldn't consume weed or booze.
