Whats so special about the pope?

To me? Not much....but apparently he's newsworthy to many...and who am I to
knock anyone's faith?

Who? Popie? If he knew that, why couldn't he side-step some pushy person?
The bullet-proof car was about it for me, part of choosing the really old ones is they should not be afraid of death. He better not be making any policies no matter how lucid he might be, advancing the ones he likes is the best he can do for the sheep of the church.

Sorry, The Pope is the leader of far more people in this world than any other single person. What happens to his Holiness is of far more importance to many more people, whether you like it or not is irrelivant.

Sorry, the pope is just a man, no holiness about him. the pope and his 'church' is irrelivant.

Actually the pope is an old man and deserves to be respected as one. He's seen a lot of things in his life and is a pretty wise old dood, if not smart enough to see the folly of religions.
That woman that knocked him down needs to be slapped upside the cheek. (Figuratively)

To you, he is irrelivant, to many many people, he is VERY relivant. He is, and what happens to him is very relivant in their lives. Or are you one of these insensitive clods who is so self centered that only those that YOU deem to be relivant in your tiny little world are important. That any one elses opinion or beliefs are inconsequential.

He got up again very quickly. It's hard to keep an old Nazi down.

:roll:Some Nazi.
Following his 14th birthday in 1941, Ratzinger was conscripted in the Hitler Youth, as membership was required for all 14-year old German boys after December 1939,[7] but was an unenthusiastic member and refused to attend meetings.

Sounds kind of like Pinnochio being a puppet: unwillingly and without a choice.

Re: Attack on The Pope

This is something that should be taken seriously, and not just as some external event.

All religious world leaders are accorded a place on the Canadian order of precedence; His Holiness The Pope ranks just below The Honourable Eva Aariak, Government Leader of Nunavut while in Canada. This demonstrates the importance that Canadians, as a society and as a people, place on religious leaders and institutions. If there was indeed a mental illness that played a part, then a simple charge of mischief or something similarly casual would be quite appropriate — however, were an attack on The Pope ever to be deliberate and premeditated, then a charge similar to treason would be warranted within the legal jurisdiction of the State of the Vatican City.
