He did no such thing. He was simply the monkey sitting in the big chair when the Soviet Union collapsed.

Right, so the USSR just up and collapsed one day...out of the blue...

Does every freakin thread have to be about Iraq and Bush? Isn't there anything else we can discuss?

You don’t see a recurring theme here?

I’ve been lurking here for about a month I’ll give you my option

Bush Bad
Anti-American Good
NDP Good
Liberals Good
Conservative Bad
SSM Good
Option on SSM Bad
Thinking outside the box Bad

It seems that a option outside the (CC norm ) is a bad thing, don’t know why but that’s the Status Quo here.

I’m a center type of guy and would like to voice my thoughts but I fear that would bring a verbal on slot that I could not defend.

Back to Lurking mode.

Voice away. According to your theory on how this place works, you should fit in at least nominally.

Iraq and Bush is the lead on international news almost every day, ITN. It would make sense that would be reflected on discussion boards.

You can always start a thread about something else though, ITN.

Well I am in agreement with Dave, yes its an important issue, but its a bit much when thats all that is talked about at the board. Plus all the fun posters are not hanging around. Not much you can do about it tho...its the will of the board.

I don't have a problem when people talk or bark at Bush or Iraq, does it have to be injected in almost EVERY thread?

Not all. He isn't mentioned in the interior decoration thread, for instance. I do wonder if he could even paint a room though. I'll bet he lacks the skills.

My choice for Greatest American would be Hunter S. Thompson. He influenced generations of writers and was never convicted of his many crimes. He had an innate understanding of what the US was supposed to be about, and never claimed innocence. He spent most of his life fighting against the people who took the idea of a shining city on the hill and turned it into a suburb full of cookie-cutter houses to keep the weather off of the PFGHs.

Also...and this just so I don't disappoint ITN...when Larry King asked him what he thought of the Bush regime, Hunter didn't pause or hesitate. He didn't mince words. "I'd like to rip their heads off and piss down their throats," was his reply, given in that odd Thompson mumble.
