RE: Politicians Starting

It's too bad politicians have to wait for somebody else to do their homework for them. Imagine how much better a world we'd have if they did their OWN research on the issues....

Yeah, for instance if my MLA had done the "extensive personal Canvassing" that he claims to have done in my neighbourhood, I could change my signature.

Questions are starting to be asked. And starting in the right place. The decisions, discussions that took place well before the invasion itself.

Now that bush has jerked Blair around a little.....might be an idea for Blair to "leak" more info about his pre-war meetings on some island. (remember that one?? )

could get interesting ........unless the bush regime puts a "lid/blackout " on all this. Transparent gov't??? in your dreams.

RE: Politicians Starting

I doubt that Bush and his oily little buddies can shut down the British press or protect Blair in the British House. They don't seem to understand politics outside of their own country at all, as Mr. Galloway demonstrated when he made the appointed witch hunters look like chumps.

Politics in the USA is all back room deals and polite people going out of their way not to make each other look bad, all carried out in front of a sycophantic press.

Britain is more like Canada, or vice versa. The press isn't under control, the opposition is less than polite, and things get loud and nasty. If the Bushites understood that, they might have a hope in hell at keeping a lid on information in Britain. They haven't got a clue about it though.

How long do you think Bush would last in Question Period or in the middle of a press scrum? I bet he'd be in tears in less than five minutes.

********

not long at all.

Is this the same Question period they have on British TV??? A friend of mine sends me segments of the program in Britain.(via e-mail)....and they pull no punches. They would vaporize the likes of bush in seconds flat.

bush has no hope in hell trying to control the press in other nations. the problem with the likes of bush, is that they underestimate the power of the people and the intellect of other nations. (this is what comes from living in a bubble of ones own arrogance)[/quote]

Yeah. They are brutal too. Unlike the Harperites here, they generally have a point though...and their cutting remarks are smart.

That's a real problem for them too. Between the internet and BBC World playing on PBS, control of the US press isn't enough anymore. People are now asking why the US press isn't carrying these stories and the US press doesn't have a real answer. The result is that they are slowly being forced to carry these stories.

Isn't that a treat??? :)

It is great having the Brit perspective, the CA perspective, the online varied news perspectives..........and compare them to the US news. (wow, what a difference)

OR admit they are restricted from doing so, due to Bushgov "censureship:.........perhaps???

Mind you, if people stop watching the US news and find their news info elsewhere..........the media ratings go down.....and this is where the crunch might be felt. No real news, no sponsorship, no mega bucks.........just follow the money trail.
