Lightfoot blamed gangs and gun runners. Yeah, got nothing to do with the fact the CPD was neutered a few years back, the city was declared a sanctuary city and the city was designated as a "gun-free". Not to mention the leftist soft on crime attitude.

If I'm not mistaken, Chicago was designated as a "gun free" zone years ago and even that hasn't stopped the gun violence! Gun free zones only make it easier for the criminals b'cuz they don't follow the "rules".

Declaring one's city to be a gun-free zone is just political theatre. It's meaningless for the exact reason you stated.
