Not only should there be monuments but they could also be holding up billboards these days. Monuments are supposed to be a reflection of the past, something that should not be repeated more often that something that should make a comeback. Sides of building and roofs of houses and front yards should also be settings that allow for billboards/monuments. A statue that pivots as you past would always get a 2nd and 3rd look no matter what the sign they were holding said. One that is a life-size replica of the 'person behind the till' and equipped with a camera and speaker would make the day go faster at a slow store as he could be the snake-oil salesman that every business needs at their front-door. $499 without speakers.
What does need changing is who picks up the tab for monuments in the first place. Before there is too much anti-monument movement the Holocaust has how many monuments in Europe and North America?
Are those slated for dismantling too (I highly doubt that) or will history only be recording that single event 100 years down the road?? (and being worthy of many monuments, expensive monuments paid for by the ones that have to look at them 24/7)
Social Media is the wave of the future so if you want to 'advertise and get the most bang for the buck' using ads that correctly target certain groups that use trigger words to make their message more appealing than it is in the cold-light of day. Youtube uses ads and from years back you could make money by clicking on sites as a visitor and that would get you a check in the mail monthly. The more people you could get to visit the place the more you made. Streaming video places use that same methods as they also have pop-ups that count as a visit when they are closed by any means. An app that does that in the background is the best way to deal with it, the site gets the visits it needs and the middleman gets his coins and you get to watch something 'for free'.
So why do New Yorkers hate Italians?
Because they are supposed to represent the Mafia which is when the criminals run the place and the police are all on the take. Probably too close to real life that the sheeple will remain asleep at the wheel.
I haven't gotten any memos about Italian food being boycotted anytime soon. It is worth giving up mamagement of a small corner when you have the rest of the Nation to scam.
