The knowledge of people about the Afterlife is vague... although most of them believe about it ..
Most people think the dead sits or reclines in his grave, and that he sees his visitors and hears them .. so they visit his grave and speak to him either they being sad or they miss their dear one who has died and buried in his grave ..
they even bring him flowers to put them beside the grave.. the Japanese put rice on his grave (while the ancient Egyptian embalmed their kings and buried their gold with them .. so as they might use the gold in the Afterlife to be rich there)
So while most people are blindly ignorant about it, the Quran exposes much knowledge about the Afterlife, and God tells us in the Quran much and much to shed light on the Afterlife: which is the destiny of every living human being.
Moreover, even Muslims (in addition to Jews, Christians and others) have a vague knowledge about the Afterlife, and that is because they have not comprehended the Quran meaning particularly the ambiguous ayat of the Quran: the Mutashabihat in the Quran.
The interpreter of the Quran and Bible, Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly, explained much about the Afterlife, in his book Man after Death, when he explained the Quran revelations related to this Afterlife... making things clearly obvious and giving much knowledge about it.
