Get it - 100 years ago we had it as good as it ever got on Earth, with stable climate. Climate is one of very few conditions that can, and has, wiped out large numbers of species on our living Earth.

And then we tinkered with it. Ooops isn't enough now - we have to find the courage to change this around... What will you tell your Grandchildren about what YOU did to reduce fossil fuel useage?

Here is the Pentagon report:
http://www.canadiancontent.net/en/jd/go?Url=http://rense.com/general65/climate.htm

major European cities will be sunk beneath rising seas as Britain is plunged into a 'Siberian' climate by 2020. Nuclear conflict, mega-droughts, famine and widespread rioting will erupt across the world

K - That scenario is a lot tougher to bear than riding your bike to work , or voting for the NDP , or demanding more from your political reps... or Reducing your fossil fuel useages , something, anything...
This is real.

I just wish politicians would stop talking about it and do something about it.

Are all those people driving around in Mini-Vans and SUV's politicians? Wow, there are more of them than I thought! :D

Seriously though, how many people resisted turning on the air conditioner during the heat we had this summer?

Stopping the greenhouse effect begins at home.

So here's a silly question: given all of the other goings on, what gives this particular report from teh CIA any credibility? Have they suddenly reformed their ways?

RE: Pentagon: "Climate Ch

Well the governments could pass laws that state every year a certain amount of "climate friendly vehicles" be produced and give the auto industry 25 years to have 100% "climate/environment friendly vehicles".

That gives general public, oil companies and auto makers time to get used to and adjust to what is coming.

The governments should also pass a law everything you buy at the supermarket is recyclable. I know a lot is but not everything.

The government should also offer "rewards" to people who come up with alternate energy friendly appliances we use for everyday things. Like finding out how to power a washing machine, dishwasher, stove, air conditioner etc with wind or solar power so they could be in every day use. Make it affordable so the average person can use/buy them.

Every new house should have solar panels on it and water recyclers. People would get tax breaks when they buy these houses, eg no gst on purchase and basic exemption double of what it is now on income tax and cut rate property taxes etc. Which I believe would be good incentives.

We have the technology but not the will. The public needs to rise up and demand these changes.
