Peacekeeping has been described as "putting a lid on a boiling pot." Peacemaking has been delineated as "looking for the source of heat and turning it down."

What is peace? Is universal peace possible? What is the process?
Peace is broad but to narrow it lets say it is tolerating, encouraging and learning from healthy differences of thought, opinion and lifestyle and allowing such differences to flourish.

I don't know if universal peace is possible because so many variables are involved including what the definition is for universal peace. Maybe one day when we understand the human mind and spirit and can assist people to deal with where they are maybe then we could. When the world was bigger and people lived in groups in relative isolation there could be peace in regions. As soon as man encounters differences or weakness that he can profit from peace becomes the first victim.

The process would involve an enlightened world where each individual was at peace with themselves everything starts with self.

"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight." (James 4:1-2a NIV)

What is the solution?
