CANBERRA (Reuters) - A plea for lovelorn female "ugly ducklings" to move to a remote Australian mining town to reverse a shortage of eligible women has landed the local mayor in hot water. </img>

I don't think he should have to apologize. Truth in advertising as they say. Finally, a town where the less attractive are the pick of the litter... wouldn't women be pissed if they DIDN'T let you know? hmm?

I don't know if advertizing "all the men are desperate here" is really any compliment ... but the ladies know they won't have to compete with fashion models either.

On the down side, the guys might be butt-ugly bad-tempered drunks too....

When I was a younger man working in the middle of nowhere (literally on the point where BC,
Alberta, & the NWT meet) doing oil exploration, there where about 1200 men up in the camps, and
about 12 women (secretaries or sometimes cooks...this was a while ago). None of them where
beauty queens, but they where the prettiest woman in at least a hundred mile radius, 'cuz they
where the only woman in at least a hundred mile radius. This Aussie Mayor might be onto something.
