Being of an age,and from a depressed area of the country {NS},I remember when,if you couldn't get a job locally,doing anything that paid,you scraped together forty dollars,bought an old car hnd headed off to greener pastures.In the sixties,the land of milk and honey was in Ontario.Personally,I've lived and worked in,besides NS,Ontario,Alberta and BC,and taken jobs at whatever paid,and that list is quite long,driving truck,various jobs in saw mills,a sulpher plant in Alta,hop fields in BC,nursing orderly in Ont,and on and on.
I "m out of the work force now,except for some part time stuff for beer money,but friends that are still working tell me stories about how hard it is now to get good help,very few young people are worth a damn. They like getting paid but arent interested in doing a good job,just put in the time.
Then there's this shyte about getting a job in your chosen field,and refusing anything but.One thing about immigrants,give them a job and before long the own the company.

I hear you- about 20 years ago my wife worked in housekeeping at a fairly prestigious hotel. Of course the weekends is when they have to "make hay", but none of the young chamber maids wanted to come in Saturday or Sunday, because it interfered with their party time. They generally didn't last too long. :lol:

Fukking EI and Welfare..

I'm telling you all walfare bums get drug tested before getting a check, single males.. no check.. get a job unless your retarded or some special needs case.

EI.. limit to 3 months.. if you can't find a job, go to welfare.

This pisses me off.. I can go into the worst areas in the USA or Canada and find employment within 3 days max, in the USA $45,000 a year plus, Canada $60,000 a year plus. (minimum)

DON'T FUKKING TELL ME PEOPLE CAN'T FIND A JOB!!!

I'd like to see both EI & Welfare cancelled. Rely on family or churches as they did early 1900's. The system is to expensive and open to fraud,

Tried to qualify for a few Gov. programs over the years...1 was an entrepreneurship course when I was on E.I...Only problem was needed $4400 to qualify ....Who the hell has $4400 on E.I...Gone long before the application is ever even accepted( 2 months to process an E.I claim)...Anyone who has $4400 would never qualify for E.I.!..Is all a scam...Number/Word/B.S Games...Gov constantly juggles words/numbers to look good.Finds any reason possible not to add to social programs, so as not to look bad...Forget to Dot an i...Rejected!...While people who Really do need the services are left to suffer....S.O.L...

Seems most public workers in Social/Public programs( E.I./Social Assistance/Housing etc..) are there to turn people away ...Not to accept/assist them ...Just keep bouncin them around; refer them to others so they can keep their jobs, while at the same time keep the stats under control...Looks bad on Gov. if Unemployment/Homeless/Social assistance numbers go up..

Is all B.S. Games...

It is time to stir up some of these offices.Some workers have become too comfortable in their FalseFaces..
All these public offices seem to be good for/at is falsifying stats and securing a good election voter pool...( Actually seem to think they're fooling us/Like we don't know any better)

Most Politicians don't seem to be livin' in the real world ..They seem to live in the world of Shady Words/Shifty Numbers...and a continuos/constant cycle of B.S. Games...

Good/Real Change never seems to come fast enough...

Those in power sold us out. They offshored everything. Manufacturing, Information Technology. You name it. We had the strongest economy anywhere and now it's gone gone gone.

This also might be true in other provinces.

I was watching Global TV political show West Block today and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said that Canada needs more foreign skilled workers to fill the future labour shortages but when the Tom Clark the host asked him about the massive unemployed that Canada has Jason said that there was not enough unemployed to fill the need.

We elect politicians to come up with solutions to solve the country’s problems and they just manage to fix part of it instead of all of it while getting their big fat paycheques.

Who can we blame, the voters who elect them?

This is an outrage and all three levels of governments are to blame for this.

What happened to taking care of your own first then going outside to fill the rest of the need?

It is a national shame that governments will go outside the country while families starve in this country because they can’t afford to get the training to get better jobs.

Voters of this country need to become more proactive in reminding politicians why they are there and the voter’s needs come first and they have to remind them that they can be replaced in the next elections.

Sorry, but if a foreigner with no Canadian experience, and a rudimentary understanding of English is more qualified to get a job over a natural-born Canadian, then the natural-born Canadian needs to take a look in the mirror, and figure out what the real problem is.

We aren't going to hire a high-school drop out for a job as an engineer, just because there is a shortage of engineers, as the result of not allowing any more foreign-devils in.
