I agree, Colpy. Harper is his own independent person and doesn't ask Bush what to do.

Damn Jon. Why do you have to say these things when I have a mouthful of water?

I don't know why any of us bother with you. You're never going to get it through that thick skull of yours, so what's the point.

ATTENTION: It's people like Caleb here that make me annoyed with this forum.

So I say that Harper listens to Bush, and you wanna cry?
If you don't like this forum, leave. I hope you don't though because I have a huge crush on you.

Of course Harper listens to Bush, he is the most pwerful man on earth, leader of the nation that is our closest ally, and our only neighbour. We share much history, a large portion of us have American relatives, we speak the same language, our laws spring from the same sources, we are very close to being the same people.

There is a big gulf between listening and being a puppet.

Harper is no one's puppet.

Like any poll,

so much depends on the size of the sample and was that sample a reasonable cross section of Canadians? The type and number of questions asked is also important. Not knowing any of that, I have to say, "I'll wait for further developments".

Most Canadian polls are pretty accurate in their sampling. Usually they're done with just over 1000 people selected by geography, demographics, income, etc.

I think the skepticism is reserved more for the actual impact such a poll would have on an election. Remember, the Liberals were leading at the beginning of the last election and lost it half way through.

That's the only time it really matters.

I really have my doubts about the strategic council being unbiased.I have seen a few of thier experts on Question period. Having said that I applaud Harper for standing up for what is wrong instead of what is right. That is the mark of a real,k right wing Christian ideologue.

Fixed.

You know what makes me annoyed? People who completely flip their political bias, out of nowhere, and become a voicepiece of the governing party.

Oh, and ultra-nationalists. They just irritate me.

Harper needs to worry that the Lebanon war does not escalate. There are 35,000 Canadians still in south Lebanon and if more of them are killed then this will get very complicated for Harper.

No, on the contrary things will get complicated for the Canadians who choose to live in an area inhabited by the Hezbollah terrorists. These folks have been hiding in a closet for the past 5 years. In case they forget, we are involved in an ongoing global war on terror. The global war on terror is not about borders, but about targeting terrorist groups. Anyone who harbors these terrorists is also open target.

Hezbollah has to be defused and disarmed.

Hezbollah is no different from any other terrorist organization (Taliban, Al Qaeda) and it's members need to be brought to justice...one way or another.

You are defining these Canadians as terrorists on the basis of the same rule of collateral damage that bin laden used for the world trade center. You are on a Canadian board and you have essentially threatened the lives of a large group of Canadians many of whom are children. That is against Canadian law and you can offer your wacko ideas to a judge.

I like to be consistent and I live part time in New York and I don't like messages that I deserve to be a victim because i am consorting with the enemy Americans. This is a stupid semantic game that requires zero intelligence. It basically justifies the killing of civilians.

This is simply your opinion. Here is an article which explains the difference between Hezbollah and al Queda.

You are wrong, Sanch, as this is not mearly my opinion, but the opinion of both Canada and the US.

In case you've forgotten, Sanch, both Canada and the US had declared Hezbollah a terrorist organization. Canada had done so under the previous Liberal government in 2002. Which means Hezbollah members are open target in our ongoing global war against terror. We need to continously maintain our zero tolerance level towards terrorism.

Which you have shown in your prior statement. Israel is launching attacks in Lebanon in order to strike against the Hezbollah terrorists, who by the way hide amungst women and children. I have a question for you, Sanch. Who are the Hezbollah terroists targetting with their rocket attacks ... Israeli civlians, no one else.

Only Canada, the UK and the US consider Hezbollah to be a terrorist organization in the entire world. Is it a coincidence that each of those countries has:
1. A media largely owned by Jews
2. A potent Jewish lobby.

I am part Jewish so don't call me an anti-Semite or a self hating Jew. I am just stating the facts.

Now a few facts about this issue:

#1. Ha'aretz reported that the IDF planned the invasion "over a year ago."
http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0801/p09s02-coop.html
#2. The UN reports that over the last year the IDF has conducted "almost daily" aggressive actions against the Lebanese. These have included killings of an unarmed 15 year old shepard boy tending to his flock, car bomb assassinations of Lebanese leaders, nightly low lever sonic booming.
http://www.un.org/Depts/dpko/missions/unifil/background.html
#3. AP has reported that the 2 IDF soldiers were on Lebanese soil when they were taken.
http://www.forbes.com/technology/feeds/ap/2006/07/12/ap2873051.html
#4. The fathers of Israel have always wanted the Litani River. Coincidentally Israel wnat the buffer zone up to the Litani River. I am sure this is just a coincidence though.

No, I would suggest Harper's stance either has to do with his own religious fundamentalism, or cowtowing up to his financial backers.

Great; another one of these.

Yes, it is a coincidence. Canada does not base its decisions in relation to security based on whatever faith-based lobby, Jewish, Christian or otherwise, has to say, thank you. Moving on.
