Psychologically kids have given up.
Most young adults look at our system, and instantly hate it.
So they dont participate.

A great deal of younger adults are deliberately not participating in the system.
They feel disfranchised, and do not agree with the status quo.

gee, again, I don't see that. Maybe it's because of the kids my kids associate with.

They see it as impossible that this world can survive. They feel certain doomed looming. They feel our system is not sustainable.
Psychologically many are giving up, and chose to not participate.

They are sad, depressed even, they feel powerless and know nothing can be done to change it.
So they practice abstinence.

That is the only option they see to fight their perception that our planet is doomed.

thanks for answering my question Angstrom, I do not know any people that feel that way so it is interesting to me.... most young adults that I know are either living the good life at the expense of their parents, or are living the good life because they make a crap load of money in the tech industry or like my other friend's kid still haven't completed their education so is struggling with teaching while their fiance completes their article.

What do you mean by they practice abstinence? Does this mean live at home and suck off of mum and dad because I definitely know a few like that. They have every luxury known to man because they get supplemented at home...all they have to do is put up with a lot of nagging. Their abstinence involves working.

I'm not sure "abstinence" is a good description of how the young people live today. I think "abstinence" more closely fits the way we grew up, pack a sandwich instead of going to Big Macs, patch a hole in a pair of pants instead of throwing them out, darning a pair of socks etc. etc. Today I see a lot more waste.

Abstinence, as live their life any possible way, other then traditionally.
Traditional life, being the system quo, they are trying to avoid.

Imagine growing up with the feeling our world was doomed. That it's unsustainable?
How devastating would that be to you psychologically? Especially at a young age.

You would develop coping mechanisms. Now think in this line of thought.
And with those glasses try to understand why young adults and kids behave the way they do today.

Some have given up, others embrace it accepting they are a cancer.

It's how some young people feel.

Sounds like those young people have had pretty fu cked up childhoods. Piss poor excuses for adults in their lives. Bought into the doom and gloom bullshyte from no minds like beaver and cliffy.

Kids can feel their is something wrong with the world. My first memory of that feeling was at a very young age...

that's too bad...they need to spend some time with adults who can empower them and help them to understand that the world is what they make it and that they can make it a great place and make a difference for the people around them...

Your right, adults can help their kids cope with that feeling of doom. Reassure them everything is fine.

hey miracles happen ;-)

kids can feel powerless especially if they are sensitive to their surroundings or if negative incidences occur and yes adults need to redirect those thoughts in a positive way and support the kids so they feel loved and safe

I don't think most parents realize their kids feel their is no hope.

Then they aren't paying attention.

Well it's easy to paint kids with the same brush and simply say they are lazy etc... Most parents just do that.

Lazy usually means they are giving up... Why would they give up?

When they feel there is no hope.

I see it everywhere I go. People saying kids are lazy. Even all over this forum.
They just don't follow the thought to its conclusion as to, why they are lazy.

Why would you bother trying, when you know the world is doomed.
