BAND WITH UNFORTUNATE NAME WON’T CHANGE NAME DUE TO CORONAVIRUS

What a bad name to have at such an unfortunate time.

Belgian death metal band Omicron has no plans on changing its name in the midst of a COVID-19 variant of the same moniker spreading across the globe. According to Sky News , the band had considered changing its name because of the coronavirus but ultimately decided against it.

Omicron founder and lead guitarist Philippe Delhaute told Sky News he hoped the publicity from the name will get more people to listen to their music while killing “the bad association with Omicron” the virus variant.

“We thought we were building our album – which is out next spring – and putting it together,” said Delhaute. “But then the news hit in November and people started getting in touch with us. The attention is cool, but we don’t want people to think we are using the disease to get our band widely spread.”

The band was named Omicron five years ago after Delhaute read up about articles about Omicron constellations. Delhaute said the band felt a responsibility because of the name clash because everyone knows someone “who have lost someone” due to COVID-19.

He hoped people “listening to our music and maybe lose the bad association.”

If you have two vaccine doses, get a third, he said. And if you’ve only had one, or none, get more, he said.

Furness believes that having three doses of vaccine will help us fight the virus down the road, even if it won’t save Canada from Omicron in the next month.

“Once Omicron cases fall, they will fall in part because of increasing immunization, and Omicron will not come back because of increased immunization,” he said.

It’s going on two years and I’m more tired than bored. We’re going into the holidays where we can actually see our families this time around….

People need to just step up to the plate and get shit done so next Christmas can be even more like a normal Christmas 🤞.

It is tiring listening to the miss-information go round & round, when some basic math skills demonstrate the two paths quite effectively.

When we are being told the lockdowns are to prevent an overwhelmed hospital system yes they pretty much are .
Of course we as a country have less ICU capacity then we did prior to implementing the vaunted Canada Health act sometime around 1970 and they were always at and above 95% capacity prior to Covid . Not much room for health emergencies like an actual pandemic . Of course we have added no new capacity since the onset of Covid and have actually fired or laid off a large percentage of health care professionals due to non compliance with vaccine mandates .

Sure sounds like Canada is about 4 months or more behind on providing Covid Booster shots with respect to the here & now. The push is on in many provinces now with people lining up for blocks in Eastern Canada outdoors for the boosters as the most populous provinces (Quebec, Ontario, & BC) are all reporting record daily numbers of new cases today (105 cases in SK so far, but it’s following the same pattern as last time last wave but strangely Trudeau is not mocking these provinces like he did with AB & SK like he did in October for some reason?).

It will take a couple months to get boosters out widespread, and a couple weeks for them to take effect…. So it might help with the next wave after this wave but not for this one. If somebody was paying attention for several months back and looking at what Israel was doing at the time (3rd shots boosters in July & August) and could have figured out how to get one at that time….. but oh well. Hindsight I guess.

This latest pestilence variant just in time for Christmas. Good times.

Canada marked Boxing Day by crossing another COVID-19 milestone, surpassing two million total cases despite many jurisdictions not reporting numbers over the holiday weekend, and as hospitals brace for the still unknown impact on admissions.

While Omicron is leading to many more breakthrough infections in vaccinated people, doctors on the frontlines this weekend reported the same thing that the data show: Vaccinations are still protecting against severe illness.

“If you believe that Omicron is a milder variant, that seems to be true only for the vaccinated,” David Jacobs, a radiologist at Humber River Hospital, posted on Twitter Sunday. “For the unvaccinated, let me tell you that from an imaging point of view, it still results in a severe pneumonia.”

On that note, My Girlfriend & I each got our second booster this morning (3 Phizers & a Moderna at this point) and the annual Influenza vaccination.

Assuming it’ll be a couple weeks now at most before this blows thickly across the prairies for Trudeau to point his finger at (but surely not at Quebec!!), now is the time for a fresh booster.

Ditto? Happy New Year.
Unvaccinated people with Covid-19 are up to 60 times more likely to need intensive care treatment, figures show.

The statistics are the most startling among older patients, who are already more likely to become seriously ill if they contract the coronavirus.
