I just wanted to add a HUGE shout-out to Shannon Szabados our goalie. Without her we may very well have been facing a much bigger deficit than 2 points. She gave our team a chance. Well done, Shannon.

The Ladies have played much better than their NHL counterparts. They had the drive to win.

Time will tell, Goob............I expect a much more NHL-like game tomorrow than the type we have seen when playing European teams. One of the hosts on Hockey2Night said something that got my attention. These guys are playing for their country now and they each have something they want to prove so they can have big bragging rights when they get back home or in the locker room.........typical boy stuff..mine's bigger n' yours. LOL

After our ladies won today, the Americans are going to be just a bit peeved and looking for some payback for their gals whereas our guys will not want to see our ladies alone on top of the podium. Like the gentlemen they are, they will join them no matter how fierce the battle.

True but they had some difficulty where there should have been none. Over confident is my opinion.

I feel bad for the US team ...Silver sucks and especially after the game they gave

I'm looking forward to seeing where it was that the US let up on their D and let the Canadians get the puck by Vetter. We are still in the 2nd and the US have yet to score..........ways to go yet.

I watched every televised game these two teams played prior to going to Sochi. The US won every single one and quite handily in a couple. They are good - real good. Amanda Kessel is something to behold - what wonderful player. Their goalie is no slouch either.

When we beat the Americans in the preliminary round, I was very pleasantly surprised but we didn't win it by much and we spent too much time in the PB. Going into this game, my hopes were not high for Team Canada and as the periods passed by I saw no reason to feel any differently. I was happy when Canada got that first goal as I did not want to see them shut-out but I did not see a tie coming. Man when that happened I was electrified. When we won, I was worn out with emotion.

I put some of that down to the Olympic ice, some to finding a rhythm with a new line - that is when Babcock leaves one around long enough - I have questioned some of his decisions - such as WHY is Subban sitting on the bench? - and some of it to a style of play that they are not used to and very little time in which to become familiar.

Tomorrow they are playing a more N American style of hockey - just on bigger ice which neither team is completely at home on.

Imagine if you didn't know they won eh?

OH poo..........the Americans just scored. :-(;-)

Oh dear.........that was a nasty hit on our goalie.

I prefer the Euro style- hockey, fast, quick, skate, pass, make the play and not a lot of fights or dirty, injuring hits.

My next door neighbor gave me the coolest thing for Christmas. It is the shape of a hockey puck with a small pipe-like protrusion that I blow into to make a sound just like the one for a good goal. It is so cool. I wear it around my neck whenever I am watching an event. It has seen a lot of use.

I much prefer Olympic hockey where the rules are stricter, penalties harsher and players are forced to use their skills and not their brawn. Still there is an amazing amount of 'rough stuff' going on in this game and many other I watched.

Thanks for that, Bart.

From what I have seen it is the defense that has carried the game.
