if the left is allowed to lump me in with a bunch of murderous street gangs merely because i hunt ducks in southern alberta, then don't even think about questioning my right to lump rapists together with murderous scumbags.

Handguns are already strictly restricted in Toronto; most guns used in crimes enter here from the United States; the mayor’s office has no power to ban guns, only Ottawa can. City council has already asked the federal government to ban guns in Toronto, so Chow’s proposal essentially amounts to repeating that 2008 request. A gesture, little more.
One would expect better of a reputed bleeding heart like Chow. The rest of the community safety platform she announced is promising. But that substance was overshadowed by the gun ban proposal — tossed in because handgun bans are the bleeding heart version of “tough on crime” and because polls show more than three quarters of people support such bans.

Actually, it isn't a crime in Canada under certain specific situations.
So basically she is running on an old platform, one that is well worn, empty promises, misinformation. Not measureable.
I've never seen much evidence that that was the case. At least it's not clear to me that they opened fire. I think that fight was pretty much instigated by excitable government agents. Kind of like Kent State.
