Found some Octopus for sale a few weeks ago so I froze it up and decided to do a curry-this recipe appealed so I used it as something of a template.
Now de leg!
Not the easiest stuff to slice take takes a razor sharp knife and an agile wrist
Various ingredients obviously
Just the start
Fully Completely
Done now-cooked Potato just added
As it hit the table
The mystery ingredient
Even though the package says Bay Leaves that's not what these are in fact they are leaves of the Cinnamon tree and while they bear a passing resemblance to the European Bay tree they are nothing alike in flavour.
So how was it?
Good not great; I added Turmeric in addition to too much Saffron and while the sugar & Lime juice used to finish helped there was residual bitterness-not sure what the Cinnamon leaves added if anything as always finishing with Smoked Salt was a good idea.
Also I was a tad disorganised and forgot to take pics of the Octopus chunks boiling in Beer- otherwise it takes too long to simmer them in Curry.
