October deadliest month yet for Iraqi civilians

Associated Press

GENEVA — The United Nations said Wednesday that 3,709 Iraqi civilians were killed in October, the highest monthly toll since the March 2003 U.S. invasion and another sign of the severity of Iraq's sectarian bloodbath.
The U.N. tally was more than three times higher than the total The Associated Press had tabulated for the month, and far more than the 2,866 U.S. service members who have died during all of the war.
The report on civilian casualties, handed out at a UN news conference in Baghdad, said the influence of militias was growing, and torture continued to be rampant, despite the government's vow to address human rights abuses.
"Hundreds of bodies continued to appear in different areas of Baghdad handcuffed, blindfolded and bearing signs of torture and execution-style killing," the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq report said. "Many witnesses reported that perpetrators wear militia attire and even police or army uniforms."

And on a factual note....

God Bless all of those people who have lost their lives - in service to their country, or in innocence lost during this ugly mess we have in the bitter middle east.

May we see an end to it soon and for those who are celebrating Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, I send my good wishes that you will return to have more peaceful ones with your families.

And for those who do not honor such a holiday - may you find peace in your world soon as well.

The civil war in Iraq is turning out to be as bad as was promised. Sectarian violence is taking a higher toll in human life, than the invasion bombing did.

Hahaha

That's a great source: The United Nations reporting to the AP....hahaha

Based on figures from the Iraqi Health Ministry, the country's hospitals and the Medico-Legal Institute in Baghdad, the report said October's figure was higher than July's previously unprecedented civilian death toll of 3,590.

Do you have another number, or anything to add to the topic? If not, keep your sarcastic crap to yourself.

Sorry Juan

Sarcasm is the only way I can voice my objection to reports such as this:

Hundreds of bodies..... many of the witnesses....

We are talking alleged war stats here and this is acceptable reporting?

I believe we all know the numbers of dead because you report it regularly like some obsessed scorekeeper.

Crap is what was reported in the article.

One more time. There is absolutely no doubt that sectarian violence is killing large numbers of people in Iraq. The report said that October was the worst month so far. You apparently don't believe that, but you don't add anything but insults to the topic.

When iraq was under evil saddam and under crazy us-uk sanctions that last 13 years , which has killed an entire generation( by the way thankx to the coalition of the willing) there was 3000 peoples who were dying each month, with the invasion of iraq in 2003 , it is gettting worst, pathetic those who supported this war, that is all i have to say.
