They also have to wait long enough for the light to change such that they can cross the street... Is that too long as well?
How long should they have to live on nothing until they can find a job?

Are they looking for work from the capitalist pigs in the private sector?... You know, the folks that they are protesting about?

The minute that these protestors bring something of value to the table, is teh moment that an employer will take them seriously.
Is there a non-Capitalist pig employment option? What employers? The ones laying off?

As long as it takes Petros... Just like you and I had to back in the day

Is there a non-Capitalist pig employment option?

Sure there is, it's called the public sector.... Only problem there is that the public sector relies on the private sector for funding.

More useless bums?

A record number of Americans are now receiving food stamps, according to data
released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In May, there were 45.75
million recipients of the aid, up 2.5% from the previous month and 12% from May
of 2010. The state of Alabama showed the biggest increase, almost 120%, with
New Jersey, Nevada and North Carolina all seeing jumps in the 20% range. Every
state posted a percentage increase, save North Dakota, which was essentially
flat

That guy was the Lotion Man of their time. Apparently it was enough to delude people (like Loc, IdRatherbeSkiing and now captan morgan) into believing that extreme ideological views were the only ones endorsed.

Are we really that naive?

MF, I have no idea what is endorsed. I have heard that nobody has a fixed opinion or agenda. I have heard some people complain about the uber rich. Yes, so what is to be done about it? No solutions offered. No action plan. Then I have heard every crackpot, also part of the movement, offer their insane viewpoint or just do stupid ****. This is helping how?

So you seem to want to defend these OWS protesters (losers + sane individuals both). What is the expected outcome of the OWS movement? At what point will it end assuming all the goals (which there are none) are reached? What would YOU like to see happen as a result of this movement?

And if you can show me that this movement has defined goals, a defined agenda, and the agenda and goals are realistic and not irrattional, I will be happy to support it. You mistake my cynicism of the movement for lack of support to the 'cause'.

So do I.

But that doesn't mean there aren't people with legitimate concerns.

That's a fair comment, one that I do agree with whole hardheartedly (surprised?). But let's shed a little perspective here, there is a big difference between getting a job and getting the one you want.

I'll wager that you went through much of the same process as everyone else in understanding that there was a real divide between what you thought you capable of and what an employer believed you could provide.

You sold drugs?

... Only when you begged and pleaded that the withdraws were too painful to bear.

Check my economist post on extreme levels of economic inequality.

No, I don't defend the crazy ones.

Never have.

I can't begin to make a proper analysis of this in the context of the movement without some more detail.

Check my economist post on extreme levels of economic inequality.

I read that article and while it illustrates the very trends that you speak of, it also does not recognize the other side of the equation in the redistribution of a huge amount of wealth into all of the social programs (especially education)... That dynamic is equally important in any attempt to assess the situation today.

I will watch your videos tonight. Youtube is blocked here at work. One question, was your economist part of the OWS movement? Has he been camping in the park? Or is he just another talking head (my personal view of Economists btw -- what really do they do?)?

There is not enough tax revenue to support that "huge amount of wealth" pumped into social systems.

Yes, he's actually been involved in the movement (on the very same streets as the bums and rich fakers).
