he answers "I don't have to answer you I have rights as an American" in his second sentence

Eh? Protecting what border.. the border is 30 miles south.. that is where the Immigration and customs check point is.

This is inland checkpoints in the USA, just taking away people rights, and without arrest, asking you for your ID and to search your car.

What would you do here in Canada is a police officer pulled you over and said he wanted to search your car, just for sh:t's and giggles.

Apparently they have a "constitution free" zone which extends a couple hundred miles inland from the borders, at least in the south...

One thing I read they look for is if you have any copyrighted material on your phone or computers...
while BAILs of dope go flying by them

I know one example of a US cottager friend of mine coming north: they stopped him with a load of new furniture for his cottage which he had bought on sale, and made him pay the balance of taxes up from the sale price to the regular selling price of the goods...
