Yes we have heard of this before, or at least warnings to keep ones facebook etc clean but I don't know if it's the same in Canada but I don't think it is.

But I would not want to work for a company that wanted to see my online presence if I had one. Of course the answer as to why you don't have one could be ' I don't have time for foolishness'.........

My brother-in-law is a Lawyer. He says the Firm scours Social Media of potential hires...just to make sure they aren't hiring a closet Charles Manson I suppose.

Do they see forums where AVs are used?

On social media ISIS videos are all still cool, while complaining about them will get you banned, so terrorists could still get hired.

I don't think the Firm checks on that. Possibly, though if they stumble upon it.

I'm not on Facebook or any other widespread Social Media platform. I just hang out on this forum from time to time... and my crazy site.

I know when I applied for a 'Factor" grant to help pay for recording, they made a big deal about me NOT having some kind of personal marketing site.

The only way they would find out about sites like this one is if you posted it on a Public stage like Facebook.....and if you used your real name on FB and private sites.......

I post on a forum where everyone has the same/ similar affliction as I do. But I keep getting banned for ridiculous reasons.

I just got banned for 3 weeks. Why? I stated that I felt that wearing headphones or talking on the phone while going through a grocery checkout was rude. I was accused of picking on people who wear headphones as an assisted device to combat their social anxiety.

Can you believe it? Three effin weeks suspension for that?? Yeesh!

LOL, I had a facebook account for a week - there is someone with a name very similar to my name there.
:)
all I got was his friends

a week of that was all I could stand.

Its crossed my mind a lot. But i find that this would apply to people who are under 30 because there are still a lot of people over 30 who just dont use social media.

At the end of the day though, if you have a letter of recommendation and provide references when asked, then they will consider you. It doesnt hurt if your cover letter is the shiznit either.

I don't have LinkedIn or Facebook and i have a phone interview on Tuesday for a job.

I think if you 'iron' out the issues...be respectful to the 'brass'...you might just find a 'silver' lining to this job application! ;)
