Actually they needed a government to manage the financial affairs of the people
not the corporations. The chickens are coming home to roost because the folks
in power didn't plan for the future.
No instead they want a pipeline to Texas where the jobs benefit someone else
and they subsidize the price going south.
Had they managed the money better they wouldn't need to start charging.
Saskatchewan planned much better in the past and are benefiting from what they
did they have a better system of health care. We also need a prescription drug
plan nationally but that will have to wait for a few years yet

There is nothing wrong with Alberta's health care. For those that are truly sick, it works like a charm.

No, I pay for my "entitlements."...

No you don't. In case you haven't noticed, both the province and the country are borrowing money to provide services to taxpayers. In other words, future generations are paying for your entitlements.

I just think we should all pay more..

So do the NDP. Real conservatives like myself believe we should balance the budget (aka - paying our own way) on the expense side of the equation, especially considering Alberta is already paying more per capita on program spending than any other province. You sound more and more like a Dipper every day. I've always called you a pretend conservative. It looks like I was right yet again.

Not at all correct.. you sound like you want the government to be in control of the health care..

I said we as "Individuals" need to start paying our premiums like we once did in Alberta.. in short Government Health Insurance.. or the government should get out of the health care business and shift the responsibility to the individual.

Do you think if we all started paying our monthly premiums again the Alberta Gov't would be upside down?

BlueCross Alberta already provides addons, why not just get 100% of your Health Care from Blue Cross and pay a deductible as I did in the USA.

No Obamacare B.S. forcing people to pay.. If you need to go to the doctor or hospital pay cash, or have Insurance..

YOU KNOW, MAYBE I'M WRONG.. MAYBE THERE IS A BETTER WAY.. WHAT'S YOUR PLAN??

The "health-care" levy is simply a progressive personal tax based on income. Albertans are being asked to address the oil-price correction and revenue shortfall by swallowing this medicine.

The Government could have called it a "road-improvement" levy.

Well taking a deeper look into this.. I might be barking up the wrong tree..

"Seven years ago, former-premier Ed Stelmach got rid of health-care premiums, a promise that made up a major part of his election campaign. Church estimates when premiums did exist, they only paid for about 15 per cent of the province’s health care spending — just about enough to cover the salaries of physicians."

I want an efficient, well run system. I could give a rip who's in control. I guess that's the difference between us. I'm much more goal focused.

Since that isn't going to happen, hopefully you and your socialistic needs will be ****ing off down south sooner rather than later

If you had a clue, you would realize that the 80/month premium was insignificant.

...because Canadians don't want to. Why do people always want to come to this country and change it?

WHAT'S YOUR PLAN??

Cut government spending before you raise taxes would be a great place to start. I know socialist like you have a problem with that. I don't really care.

Wow, you disappoint me.. tried to be civil and you go back to stupid childish remarks and beating your chest like a Neanderthal.

Oh you're a Socialist, Oh you need to move back south, Oh I'm more goal driven. You're spending half your day posting on a web forum.. yeah your goal driven towards getting carpal tunnel.

I think the only adult and grown up thing you said is cut spending.. I'll agree with you there. Cut all the Big Corporate handouts too.

Now see if you can answer this question like an adult.. where would you cut spending??

You're just angry because you've been caught being a hypocrite and promoting tax and spend ideals.

If you're going to argue for more taxation, the least you could do is argue for consumption/user taxes instead of payroll taxes (which is what Health Care Premiums were). The entire way we fund government in Alberta is dysfunctional and your idea is to tax us more. Good Gawd!!! You can't leave our country fast enough for me.

I wish they would just privatize the whole dam Health Care System.. you want coverage, go to Blue Cross or something like that..

The way the USA used to be, before Obamacare screwed everyone up, doubling and tripling everyone's premium to pay for the welfare bums.

Didn't you return to Canada because you needed healthcare and couldn't afford it in the US of A?
Try to answer honestly.

wrong, again.

Nope. That's why the province doesn't want to bring them back and instead wants to tax Albertans "directly"

New Alberta health levy to be progressive | Metro

“You can view (the new fee) as a progressive measure,” Prentice told reporters Wednesday. “The former health-care premium was essentially a payroll tax. It was viewed as a very regressive structure and one that was actually quite punitive on the economy and on people.”

Now run along.

Didn't you return to Canada because you needed healthcare and couldn't afford it in the US of A?

That was his initial claim. Now he wants it changed. It's funny how he berates other immigrants for coming here for a better life then trying to change things once they get here.

So the Great Oil Kingdom of Al Bert'Ah has fallen-and the Squareheads have the last laff.

Don't be silly. Oil will rebound and we will be awash in money soon enough.

.

from 2001 when I moved to Alberta to when the premiums were stopped, not once were they taken off my pay cheque. At no time were they ever acted upon as if they were a "payroll" tax. We received a quarterly invoice which we paid. So, no, you run along. Just because prentice wants to call it a "payroll tax" to make HIS idea look better does not mean it was. The fact that you don't know how the premiums were paid makes it look even more like your detractors are correct concerning your "employment" status.

They need Co-Pays..

Say Petro's everyone is bitching on his Facebook page, I added this;

"Personally I think your should have gone with a flat co-pay vs user fees based on a %. $10 for a doctors visit, $25 for urgent care, and $50 for emergency. It will stop the abuse of people sitting in the waiting room with a headache. Hopefully these folks opposed to your plan, you know the welfare bums and Easterners may do us all a good turn and leave Alberta. Good job, you have my vote."

...........................................

One of the comments on his Facebook urged people to vote WildRose, and somebody replied;

"Wildrose eh.....???...the lake of fire bigot party...the same party that was fined 17 thousand dollars by the CITY for wrong doing...the same party that wants to deny certain groups their rights...the same party that wants USA style Govt..the same party that wants people to pay for their own hospital care...it goes on and on.."

I think I may have to vote WildRose

You are a nasty jackhole.
The only thing this type of co-pay will stop is sick people getting care.
What single mother has $50 to take their kid with 104 fever to emergency.
You are a heartless bastard. So are the politicians that want this.
Get back to your dream land that already has this punitive system.
You've raved on about how great the US of A is, why don't you get back to your political nirvana.
Or are you a mouth shooting hypocrite?

I said yes.. my Health Care was $360/mo, it went up to $1,200USD/mo. ($1,500CAD) ;)

Plus my co-payment of $25 for a doctor visit, $50 for urgent care and $100 for Emergency.

All I am saying is that Alberta charged $80/mo per single person. They should bump that to $100/mo plus a Co-Payment.

This will get Alberta's budget under control..

Why are people here so offended to pay a FAIR insurance payment, like your car or home for your health coverage.

I won't pay Obama's tax rates... it's stupid. I didn't mind $360/month.. but triple it, I was lucky to be a dual citizen. Screw Obama..
