OK, y'all, I'm genuinely, deeply sorry about the CFL's season, and absolutely disgusted at the government's refusal to spring 'em 30 mil, which woulda been a fart in a hurricane except somebody decided to make it a minor culture war.

That said, I invite all Canadian Football fans to enjoy the NFL. It's a slower game, and very cramped due to the smaller field, but the individual athletes' talent levels are generally higher than in CFL.

First game is the Kansas City Chiefs (reigning champions) vs. the Houston Texans (exciting with DeShaun Watson at QB and the awesome JJ Watt on defense), Thursday evening at 8:20 EDT. Check your listings.

After that, I welcome any and all to root for the incredibly exciting Baltimore Ravens. First game Sunday at 1:00 EDT.

Excellent game. KC Chiefs 34 - 20 Houston Texans.

Both teams looked very sharp. The lack of a pre-season has not hurt them. The rookies were particularly effective.

35.4 million viewers. Guess Walters hateful prediction was exaggerated.

KC vs Ravens is 27-10 at halftime and should be worse.

Baltimore defense is bad but their O is worse.

Lamar looking like the new RGB111. KC shutting him down no problem.

The I watched Jets/Broncos which was a laugher between 2 0-3 teams and turned out to be a really good game.

And yet the rating was down 13% while viewership was down 7% for that game.
In fact, only three games so far this season have seen a ratings increase and one of those was only 1%. To be fair though, 8 games saw an increase in viewership, albeit for three of them the increase was only 1% or less.

So, of the 19 games played up to and including the Dallas-Seattle game, 16 games saw a decrease in ratings and 11 games saw a decrease in viewership.
The game that saw the biggest increase in both ratings and viewership was K-C at Baltimore with 31% and 32% respectively and it still only drew 14 million viewers. The games that saw biggest drop were a double header on CBS, NYG-CHI and DEN-PIT tanking with a 39% drop in the ratings and a 41% drop in viewership with only 9.7 million.

***'Viewers' is defined as the number of viewers aged 2+ viewing the game in the average minute.

Never bring a big mouth and empty hands to a gunfight, Jin.

My answer is obvious. . .

"How's the CFL doing?"

The attorney for the family of a girl severely injured in the accident involving former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid said Tuesday the 5-year-old likely has permanent brain damage and is not walking or talking.

During an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” program, lawyer Tom Porto said Ariel Young is awake but not speaking nearly a month after the “serious life-altering event.” She suffered life-threatening injuries and continues to fight for her life, Porto said.

“She’s awake, which is a huge development,” Porto said on the morning show. “She likely has permanent brain damage that she will endure for the rest of her life. She’s not walking — it’s a sad, sad, sad story.”

Reid, the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, told police he had two to three drinks prior to the crash on Feb. 4, three days before the team played in the Super Bowl in Tampa.

Reid acknowledged to police he was driving the Dodge Ram truck that struck a Chevrolet Traverse that had arrived to assist the driver of a Chevrolet Impala that had run out of gas. Reid’s vehicle struck the Impala first before striking the Traverse, injuring Ariel and a 4-year-old, both of whom were in the backseat of the Traverse.

Britt Reid’s eyes were bloodshot and the officer smelled “a moderate odour of alcoholic beverages,” according to a police officer statement.

In addition to the drinks, Reid reportedly told the police that he took prescription Adderall.

No charges have been filed against Britt Reid, who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a controlled substance in 2008.

“We’re going to be advocating for the most serious charges and the most serious sentence that Britt could ever receive,” Porto said on GMA. “We don’t have the toxicology back, I don’t know what it is going to be. What I do know are the statements that he made to police that night. If you have two or three drinks, and then you get behind the wheel of a car, you are likely over the legal limit.”

Britt Reid is no longer employed by the Chiefs. He was the team’s outside linebackers coach, but his contract was not renewed.

A former professional football player shot and killed a prominent South Carolina doctor, his wife, two grandchildren and another man before taking his own life at his home a short distance away, authorities said on Thursday.

Phillip Adams, 32, who left the National Football League more than five years ago, was found dead hours after the killings of five people on Wednesday at the home of Dr. Robert Lesslie in suburban Rock Hill, South Carolina, York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson said.

Investigators were at a loss to offer a motive for the shooting spree that broke out in the quiet community about 30 miles (48 km) south of Charlotte, North Carolina. “We have probably more questions than you do right now,” Tolson told reporters at a briefing.

There was no indication that Adams had any relationship with Lesslie or his family, Tolson said.

The sheriff said two weapons were used in the violence, a .45-calibre and a 9mm.

Adams died from a single gunshot to the head at his home a short distance from the murder scene, where he lived with his father, as police closed in hours after the shootings, officials said.

As a player, Adams had a six-year NFL career as a defensive back with five teams, finishing with the Atlanta Falcons in 2015. He attended South Carolina State University and was selected in the seventh round of the 2010 draft by the San Francisco 49ers.

Adams’ father, Alonzo Adams, blamed the shooting outburst on football.

“I can say he’s a good kid,” the elder Adams told WCNC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina. “I think the football messed him up.”

Asked to comment, an NFL spokesman said, “Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the victims of this devastating tragedy.”

The deadly shooting spree, reported late Wednesday afternoon, left a trail of bodies around the Lesslie home. Killed were Lesslie, 70, his wife Barbara Lesslie, 69, two of their grandchildren, 9-year-old Adah Lesslie and 5-year-old Noah Lesslie, and James Lewis, 38, an air conditioning technician working at the house, the sheriff’s office said.

A sixth victim, also an air conditioning technician, was wounded and rushed to a hospital, officials said. He remains in critical condition, the sheriff said.

Robert Lesslie, whose online biography said he co-owned two local urgent care clinics, was a beloved member of the community, Tolson said.

“Dr. Lesslie was a healer in this community,” he said. “He knew everyone. He treated everyone with respect.”

He also had worked in and directed several busy emergency rooms at Charlotte-area hospitals and had been medical director of the emergency department at Rock Hill General Hospital for almost 15 years, the biography said.

An air conditioning technician has become the sixth person to die after being shot by a former National Football League player at a South Carolina home last Wednesday, the county coroner said.

Robert Shook, 38, was shot in the driveway of the Rock Hill, South Carolina home where he had been working, the York County sheriff said, and he died from his wounds on Saturday.

The gunman, whom officials identified as Phillip Adams, 32, opened fire at the home of doctor Robert Lesslie, killing Lesslie, 70, his wife Barbara Lesslie, 69, two of their grandchildren, 9-year-old Adah Lesslie and 5-year-old Noah Lesslie, and James Lewis, 38, another air conditioning technician, the county sheriff’s office said.

“We are all heart broken,” the men’s employer GSM Services posted on Facebook on Saturday.

Adams, who left the National Football League more than five years ago, died from a single gunshot to the head at his home a short distance from the murder scene. Investigators have not identified a motive for the shootings.
