Negativity is necessary, haven't you heard the term "the squeaky wheel gets the grease".
Negativity can be a catylyst for change - If people didn't bitch and complain nothing would ever change.

"Upbeat" people can still be negative. And they would be the noisiest! Passive agressive types, those who think loyalty comes with payback, stuff like that. To see them you might think they were happy, but underneath...ugliness.

I'm a fairly positive person, although like Talloola, I have my "moments". Often that positive-ness is labeled "naivatee". I have a lot of hope and a lot of faith in circumstance and people in general...naive? Or positive?

I can definitely relate to that-----
The very negative ones, can't seem to see out through their 'cloud', hence no input 'fora remedy' to a very
worrying situation, just constant bitching, and the light at the end of the tunnel is never seen.

Can only speak for myself, as, when I get 'down', something has made me sad, or worried,
it can be a very miserable experience, but, that can only last for a short period of time,
and 'something' inside of me begins to fight that, and I become stronger and find a
balance, can't stay down too long, it's like giving in, there is always a way out, always a
better way, always have to fight my way back to normal, maybe it's having seen others
throughout my life wallow in the depths of depression, and misery, and moan and groan
that 'nothing' is good and life is over, I can't accept that.
The same attitudes come to me through the TV, nothing but suffering and war and misery, and always seems to be the threat of a new one, as though it would be unatural
for all countries to like each other, I just shake my head, smile and go about my
business, as we are lucky and smart to have our good life here in this country.
I will not be depressed about what others are doing around the world, but
I do have deep compassion for those who suffer. I am truly a positive person, and I
am thankful for that, good genes I suppose, my positive side outways my negative
side by a large margin.
I can get angry though, which is something entirely different, but that also, doesn't
last very long.

So from your first sentence your positivity starts with negativity, that's the natural order, if on the other hand you were positive all the time that would be and is called insane. Similarly if your negative all the time your insane. You have to be negative before you can be positive and while you're being positive you use the negative to build further stronger positive, it's whaddayacallit loop/circle/complete emotional experiance necessary for cognizant thought. IMO If you're a balanced person Tallola how can you be more positive than negative? Wouldn't that make you imbalanced? Anger is negative. that'll be two bits please:smile:

I have a friend who is insanely positive and happy. She laughs almost always, and nearly uncontrollably. I literally don't have the energy to keep up with it. She laughs and I just give her a deadpan look because if I responded with the same kind of zest all the time I'd end up in a coma or a mental institution from exhaustion. This goes on for a couple of weeks then it all comes crashing down for a couple of days. Usually migraine headache. I don't think the brain was meant to be that happy and will go through a natural correction.

Absolutely priceless....!

The pretense of philosophical discussion....as in-road to selling the peons baubles and goo-gahs....

Well you've certainly demonstrated your price.

Charlatan.

Considering that this is the second thread within a month complaining of others' negativity, I'd say it's those who consider themselves 'positive' who are making more noise. Just a thought.

And, I dare to say that, because the other thread was started by me. lol.

Well, it's time to say the obvious all over again.
The Tao specialized in it.

There ain't no mountain without a valley.
No negative without a positive.

They need each other to exist. Pals, cousins, los hermanos.

Thesis. Anti-thesis.

Synthesis of the two become the new Thesis whose seeds are born the rebel anti Thesis.

There ain't no mountain without a valley.
No negative without a positive.
Just as there ain't no a positive Mountain with a Negative valley or the other way around ,two different things ;one is a physical matter ,the other psychological action(behavior) .

I await the return of the CornDog once every year (like Linus waiting for The Big Pumpkin) at a carnival which basically closes down our town with triple its size in population making it impossible for anyone to drive to work or drive through this town.

This festival is supposed to celebrate the Apple, but the carnies coming into town feed us something else more extraordinary, more tastier, more toxic, more juicy, more greasy in order to form a more perfect union with our stomach: A comfortable "slide-down-the-gullet" feeling.

After I'm done, I say quietly to myself in tonal buddhistic ways "Cornnnnn doggggggggg".

Passersby hear this union of spirit and stomach, and say, "Corn dog ?"

I point towards the vendor, like a corn dog seer should.

"Corn dog," I say.

Some give me a jaundiced second look, others go willingly.
