If tuition was kept frozen, then in a few years I would not be complaining about any of the above... you would.

As the Reverend said, the benefits far outweigh the costs in the long-term. It's a case of catering to those who are in need instead of catering to those who are already doing fine.

My sis-in-law was one of those who benefited from the tuition freeze. Want to know her thoughts on it? In her 5 years at UBC she could see the decline. Class sizes got bigger (can't afford to hire/keep profs and TAs) and research money wasn't there.

I'd like to know where the long-term benefits are. Other than the group of students at the time, who gained?

How would things be better at our universities if the freeze were maintained?

There's no way I'd ever vote for the NDP. Not after what they did to this province last time. BC's moving forward under the Liberals. There's no reason to go backwards, which is what the NDP would surely cause the province to do. Plus I can't stand Carole James.

If the universities cannot provide education at a static tuition level then maybe we should ask where all the money is going rather then increasing tuition rates. Do we really need to be paying the president of UBC $700,000 for two-years pay after she's quit? Rather than lacing the pockets of their administrations the universities should use students tuition funds more wisely, and then maybe there will not be such a pressing need to jack up tuition fees. Plus think of the kickback from allowing more people to educate themselves. With more educated people seeking work it will benefit the entire province, I can see no advantage to closing the doors on our working force blocking them from the halls of learning.

My 84 year old grandma who is on a fixed income had her pills go up 37$ a month thanks to Campbell.

Wow... Campbell personally raised her drug costs?

Just a little thought, no1, why don't you offer to help Grandma? Or should the government pay for everything?

She has 5 kids that help her if she needs it.

But thats not the point. Many Seniors can not afford their medication anymore or are forced to stretch it out. Many of these Seniors Campbell hurt by cutbacks are the ones that built this country and served this country in diferent wars so people like us have the freedom to post our opinions on boards like this.

And for that Jackass Campbell to cut their pharmacare is totally
reprehensible, cruel and a slap in the face to most seniors. Most seniors are not "rich" like some people think. They are just squeaking by and what does Campbell do? Slaps them in the face.

Seniors who need help should get it. Period.

Balancing the budget and stimulating the economy come secondary to taking care of these people... this is a no-brainer folks anyone who wants to throw the burden of our provinces debts on the shoulders of the doddering elderly is just cruel
