Let's just say a discussion on nationalsim between myself and a self-proclaimed nationalist-neocon it NOT a good idea. Anyone who would identify themselves as such has to give you an idea as to how things are going. We're on day three now. :D

Dam, I so love long conversations, can I join? :p

Yep. Welcome Kathianne. We're trying to avoid melt down elsewhere. We need to be pulled back from the proverbial edge, and fast!

I think Toro has had the pleasure of her aquaintence though.

Which would be why I haven't come out and proclaimed your neoconservativism, because I believe you can be saved...at least from yourself...

Sorry, I'm fecking drunk, and you'll have to forgive me, or fecking not...

Alcohol and Politics

On a sidenote, one might think that alcohol and politics don't mix — but since our first Prime Minister was a chronic drunk, I suppose that would have disproven that particular theory.

More to the topic at hand, to sum up my earlier points, patriotism is good in moderation, and nationalism is good in moderation. Both are bad if not there at all, or if applied too radically.

Sorry, I'm *censored* drunk, and you'll have to forgive me, or *censored* not...

I assure you, I'm not a neocon. I am, however, very conservative by nature, or right leaning to those who like labels. I do believe in family and tradtion (those tradtions don't have to be mine, I just think they're important, regardless of what they are) and judging things largely from how they've played out in the past and adapting to change slowely. I've been like that my entire life. Why my own mother used to laugh at me, constantly saying I was "soooooo, conservative" and roll her eyes as she laced up her combat boots. Oh the pain of it, me own Ma! *sniff, sniff*

But really, Vanni, I'm kinda.....uuuuh...... flustered. I had no idea you followed and analyzed my posts so closely. You must like me, REALLY like me. :p

Good summation. Both have their uses, but in moderation.

RE: Nationalism vs Patrio

Hi Tracy! Thanks for the welcome! I did avoid meltdown, for how long remains to be seen. :)

I don't think there is moderation possible in 'Nationalism'. On the other hand, patriotism is not in and of itself bad.
