In 2005, Canada's homicide rate climbed to its highest level in close to 10 years, an increase triggered by a spike in gang violence. It was the second straight year the rate has gone up.

Now Colpy..you just watch it before someone gets out their registered .22 and comes to find ya!!

It's amazing to me, I turn on the T.V. and watch a news cast from Toronto the day after 4 shootings on the weekend. shootings in drug area by gang members with handguns bought on the street,,,The first reaction by local officials is for tighter gun control...huh? These are illegal weapons brought in illegally, sold illegally and then used illegally...What they will stop beacause "it's the law!!!

If you do a crime with a gun...lock them up for a real amount of time.....Teach the parents to parent...expose these kids to religion, or sports or mountain biking for God's sake... They have no guidance, they have drugs..they have guns..they use them and guess what not much happens!!!

Here in Nova Scotia assault crimes jumped 28%, my mother lives in Dartmouth and she's terrorfied to come out after dark, a woman was raped in a public bus shelter across the street from her. In cowville we have a group of youths that are terrorizing the town, the police hold meetings saying there is nothing they can do because the youths aren't breaking the law. They form human chains on the local roads and refuse to let motorist pass, they verbally abuse people at the only ATM in town, thugs little snot nosed thugs who should be taken behind farmer Dill's Barn and tought respect.

I'm all for a little red neck justice, I'd like to load these scummy little thugs into the F150 grab a couple of 2X4's and teach them respect. They have the elderly in town cowering in fear and it's wrong, as long as they don't strike someone they are free to rule this town with terror. The parents are useless bunch of free loading welfare drunks who secretly like sticking it to the members of this town. Eventually someone will take action but it won't be the Mounties.

The youth criminal justice act is a joke. Did anyone here not know it was wrong to committ acts of violence at the age of say 13? Or even younger?

Bingo Tonington and Bill when I was 10 I knew it was wrong to let the neighbours homing pegions free from their coop but I did it anyway but they came home. When I was 15 I stole a jug of homemade hooch, and I also knew this was wrong, that stuff almost left me blind. I was caught and punished both times by my parents and I also had to atone to my neighbours who tried to stifle their giggles but I knew they thought what I did was funny. The Youth Justice Act is sick, kids know what they are doing is wrong but they fear no reprecussions. It's as if they feel all powerful and don't care about their victims.

Exactly, I mean technically our system is based on rehabilitation is it not? It obviously doesn't work with the youngsters who repeatedly go back and forth. Put them in there with the rest of the criminals, perhaps that will set them straight. Even if the kid isn't a bad seed, they still have to attone for what they did. Why are we so lenient on those who blatantly flaunt their disregard for our society? Do they deserve our pity?

ahh the fond memories you are bringing back hahahaha!!!!

When I did those type of things and was caught we were hauled into a cop car. The cops had a good talk with us and THEN they say should we wake your parents up..OMG NOOOOO!!! Please let us go..we'll do anything...You see we were more scared of our parents then the cops!!! and why? Because they had total authority over us....they could legally kill us..or so we thought...and we would have to leave with them after!!!

Today if a parent touches the kid some advocate is ready to sue on the kids behalf....The kids know this too..they don't care about any athority.... However if we had real boot camps, you can break down tht wall and rebuild a decent kid from it...But oh ya..that would be inhuman....I forgot!!
