I remember Lyin Brian on TV stating flat out that if he was elected, there would be no NAFTA...........google the rest of it. Can't to all the work, eh. Sarcasm only works if you're correct.

Ummmmm......

If I remember correctly for the first time, and last, I voted Liberal and more specifically for Chretien as he waved around his 'Red Book' based on his promise of eliminating 'Free Trades', which resulted in the CONS getting shriveled to 2 seats.

And as history has shown, Chretien didn't follow through........

Following diplomatic negotiations dating back to 1986 among the three nations, the leaders met in San Antonio, Texas, on December 17, 1992, to sign NAFTA. U.S. President George H. W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexican President Carlos Salinas, each responsible for spearheading and promoting the agreement, ceremonially signed it. The signed agreement then needed to be authorized by each nation's legislative or parliamentary branch.

Kim Campbell led the PC party into the 1993 election where they were decimated by the Liberal Party under Jean Chrétien, who had campaigned on a promise to renegotiate or abrogate NAFTA; however, Chrétien subsequently negotiated two supplemental agreements with the new US president.
