Well I am a Nurse and have a great opportunity there. Not too often that Nursing permanent jobs come up there. I am very excited of the opportunity. My hubby hopefully will find a Welding job in the area.

I think you'll do well there, Hummingbird. G.F. has an excellent hospital and doctors although the hospital has its limitations. There are also several seniors' facilities, one of which is a recent addition to the hospital. I wish you well.

Thanks so much! Yes, it is a Community Nurse position so hoping that all works out. I am so thankful for the opportunity but also to be able to hear of feed back from people who have lived there or are still presently there. Hoping we will find a nice rental home. Have already searched and found a couple of 3 bedroom homes for a very reasonable cost!

Hello, I am in the same boat, my BF and I are being sent to BC from Mississauga ONT, for his job. He was offered a few different options, Delta, North Delta basically any where around there. We are a young(35ish) white couple, who like to do fun things, so how safe is this area? Are there fun things to do? (I have a total phobia of larges dogs will I see lots LOL)

I don't want to "piss on your parade" but to be quite honest Delta, North Delta and anywhere within 50 miles of them are in the worst part of B.C. in pretty well all aspects. For good weather the Okanagan Valley is about the best and for safety, peace and quiet it's pretty hard to beat the Chilcotin Plateau, although amenities are a little scarce there.

Well, the location of the job pretty well dictates the area where you have to live. The main bad aspects of the "lower mainland" are real estate prices, cost of transportation and parking and the crime rate. Good areas would be central Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, Cariboo. Depends on your lifestyle.

Depending on what you do for a living I would say stay out of Van.
I live in the Okanagan Valley in Kelowna lots going on and away
from the city. I live on a small farm about ten minutes from the Mall
and downtown but I am in the country.
Nice place to live a little expensive to live but great lifestyle.
