The original 1973(?) version of Walking Tall. A brutal sheriff beats up all the bad guys in town, they kill his wife, he kills a couple of them, lots of gratuitous violence, supposedly based on a true story but heavily fictionalized. Only movie I've ever walked out of before the end.

Oh, and ANY musical. Sound of Music, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, any of them, they all suck out loud. In real life, people don't burst into song like that, makes the whole thing laughable to me. With the possible exception of Jesus Christ Superstar. There was some really fine music in that one that redeems it from being just another suck out loud musical.
You didn't like Rocky Horror Picture Show? It was so bad it was great. As for the rest, I'm with you. Sound of Music makes me want to beat the TV with a baseball bat. Hmm! I guess that is why I don't have one. Can't imagine having to watch it in a theater. They would probably have to remove me in a straight jacket.

Oh, I did love Yellow Submarine. Does that count?

The Wizard of Oz is a musical, but musicals are meant for the live stage, like a contemporary opera ... music and acting in one. The same program does not work on TV. Rocky Horror has a great sound track ... bats out of hell and other elevator tricks.

Beatles are over-used.

Really? You think the 1939 movie The Wizard Of Oz doesn't work? How bonkers of you.

It's been colourized ... what do you mean "it works"?

No it hasn't. It was shot in technicolor. It works because though it did receive many Academy nominations, and won best picture and best original song, it only made about 1 million in profit. Far more in re-releases. After being aired on television, it moved status to one of the most famous films ever made. So tell me where it is that this film doesn't work.

I enjoyed it. Of course, I wasn't sober at the time, so that might have something to do with it. I'm amazed that there are people out there who saw it. Did we all see it at university?

Anyone out there see Liquid Sky?

Eraser Head & Liquid Sky = pathetic puke fests but they do have their following
