I wonder what the cause of death was? What was her health in general? Location has it's importance only if there was mistreatment. People die of natural causes in the pokey like they do in the mall. No biggie.

quite right... I no nothing about the law, I'm saving that for retirement and then I shall take some courses and increase my understanding, having said that, I thought there was supposed to be the law and the spirit of the law. I thought judges were allowed discretion meaning they could weigh the case in front of them and allow for mitigating circumstances. It is disappointing that it was not done here. Although maybe it was...two days isn't much it would seem. However the details are so scant it's hard for us to judge.

we do not have enough details to "blame" the children. We do not have enough details to blame anyone for anything.

I think we can blame a law that allows a parent to be jailed because of a high school kids truancy.

How can this law exists as a noble instrument for the good of society?

Apparently a parent is supposed to take them to school and guard all the doors to make sure they don't leave at any point?

I dunno, seems absurd to me too.

I knew a parent who would take his kid to school, watch him walk in the front door and the kid would just walk out the back door. Some kids will refuse to go to school and seem not to care what happens to their parents - putting these parents in jail has no effect on their kid going to school.

So, what is the authorities' plan "B" to get these kids to go to school?

I know a lot of School systems in the USA are Privatized (I'm not sure if this one is) and as such they only get paid by the State/County based on attendance............

Just got to thinking "what's good for the goose is good for the gander"- if parents can be put in jail for not sending the kids to school maybe the teachers should be thrown in jail when they pull this strike ****!

Pretty f**kin' sad I'd say!

Incarceration for defaulting on fines is commonplace. She more than likely had the community service "work it off option".

There is no travesty here unless you're referring to the unresearched media hype surrounding this.

I really thought you were going to suggest some sort of action against the kids to help them see the error of their ways but you've gone all Hudak on us............

Why can't you just be happy she's dead?

Not until I bring all of the guilty parties to justice.

Let's see... There's the Republicans, the entire school system, the State of Pennsylvania and let's not forget, any person, alive or dead named Dean or Patton.

All of the aforementioned are wholly and fully responsible for her death, regardless of the cause.

Yep, equally.

Yay, equality.

Nice deflection, or are you suggesting that the Johnson & Johnson group of companies be held responsible?

I wonder what the cause of death was?

I believe that Bones can weigh in on this.... Although we all know it doesn't matter as she was clearly murdered by the system and inequality

Sorry, never got to studying Hudak in depth! Didn't he want to get rid of some bureaucrats? Nothing wrong with that! -:)
