I haven't done the final numbers but now that I have retired I owe about $1500 in taxes even though wages went down a bit. Good thing I was born early in the year. Retired a decade early but why not give a kid a swing. I didn't apply for it and if I was a company you can be sure the customers were paying for it rather than by take home alone is where it comes from. Should I send a card to Paris for the tax being there or JT for being such a wimp to pay what is nothing but an extortion payment. Maybe paying soon rather than later has benefits only spelled out in the fine-print.
The cut-off is $50k I think, and that is not such a big income when expenses are removed. the number getting a refunds points to them being a 'low wage earner', when I retired I was making $80k in 6 months and I wasn't banking anything. I forget the number that did get a refund.
