Might I actually vote conservative next time around?

Generally speaking, I tend to identify more with the moderate left than any other group along the political spectrum. I do belive in government intervention in key parts of the Canadian economy, especially education. But I'm certainly not in favour of favouring one particular private sector insudtry over any other just because it has a lot of unionized workers voting for the NDP.

Though I'm not opposed to the new coalition increasing overall spending, I certainly hope that that spending will be wisely invested and not splurged on random make-work job projects (subsidizing the auto sector being one of them in my opinion).

If it's a choice between spending with the accuracy of a shotgun shot from the hip and not spending at all (as the Conservatives intended to do), then I'd rather not spend at all!

This puts me in a dilema. If I should vote left next time around (unless it's indepenent left), then I'm essentially voting for the governemnt to be highjacked by unions. And if I vote right, big business. Oh boy oh boy, where do I go from here.

Honestly though, if it's a choice between too little spending and irresponsible splurging, I might actually have to consider voting Conservative for the first time in my life. Or maybe the Green party? Or independent left. But it would seem that unless the Green Party can present something good, or an independent leftist candidate comes along who's not bought by big unions, I'll be left with no choice but to either spoil my ballot again, or vote Conservative.

Somehow, now that I think about it, I'll probably just choose to hand in a blank ballot again.

Didn't Bob Rae try spending his way out of a recession years ago? He of all people would know better than to try it now. In a recession you cut spending not accelerate it.

Machjo, this is your Thread that you started, but this might be an informative two birds with one stone
sort of thing. If you're interested, for curiosities sake, could you put a Poll at the top of this Thread? If
not, I could start a different Thread for it, but it sort of ties into what you're saying here. Somthing along
the lines of.

If you were a conservative last week, are you still one today?
If you weren't a conservative last week, are you now one today?

Go ahead, you can start one. But just remember that yes and no are not always the only possible answers, so add in an 'other answer' option or something else of the sort in there for the less clearcut answers and people could explain themselves in a post. But it's a good idea.

OK...I've never done a Poll before, but I'll give it a crack.

I never voted or liked the Conservatives before, and after all of this, I sure as heck won't ever vote for them, even if my only other option is the Communist Party of Canada..... I'll move from this hell hole before I ever vote for them.

Then again the whole world is pretty screwed up as it is, I guess it won't matter where I go.
