How many on this forum have actually lived in Mexico or Central America for 1 year or more?? So do you have any concept of what is going on in Mexico..

I know enough to have no desire to live there for a year or even a month.

So I guess by that logic that you're planning to shut up about the Middle East then?

http://forums.canadiancontent.net/hot-topics/124823-why-most-muslim-countries-so.html

Nope, you assume people don't travel? humm

I know enough to have no desire to live there for a year or even a month.

The people, no matter how poor they are great with with a smile.. people are genuine and friendly.

God, I don't get how people can not visit other nations and experience other cultures.. air fare is so cheap these days..

I meet people in both Canada and the USA that have not even left their State or Province of birth.. I just don't get that..

Its not the people I wouldn't want to meet - its the drug war I wouldn't want to get in the middle of. Their government can't hold the country together or protect its people - I'm not going to trust them with myself by moving or vacationing there again. Same reason I wouldn't go to most of the middle east. Id really love to go to a lot of those places but they aren't exactly safe. When things calm down, sure, if they ever do.

Ive been to every province in the country and one of the territories, at least a dozen US states and another half a dozen countries. Ive travelled and am not opposed to it. I agree, people should do it more. But that doesn't mean I'm willing to go anywhere at any time.

IOW you know SFA.

If true my original comment stands. I wouldn't move somewhere I know nothing about.

Yeah, stay brave and stupid.. that will make you a statistic .... another Canadian killed.. then you'll hear people on CC cry for a boycott and how dangerous Mexico is..

I'll just say, Global Warming didn't get him, stupidity done him in.
Once the gunplay dies down the 'liberated' cash is sent to China for a few boatlaods of industrial goods for the peasants and with the US on the dorstep of legalizing pot by declaring it a medicine (and big pharma will have the exclusive right to grow and distribute it. $$$$) Change over to a hemp variety and a renewable indusry is born if the hemp bales go to China for processing and manufacturing that allows them to have a vast list of durable products for export around the world. Mexico would also be a more popular tourist attraction if the chickens were kept off the road, and if one gets on the road and gets killed accidently it does not become a beloved member of the family, it becomes roadkill stew for whoever gets it first. Bring in the coco leaf (or bottled in a pop) and say so long to the siestas. (or so I've heard)

Ive been to ...... I agree, people should do it more. But that doesn't mean I'm willing to go anywhere at any time.

A few decades past my 'retirement was a 30+ ft Cat that I could float don't to Chili on and get in with the locals in a business adventure where they were the guides and the crew could get into all the tourist hotels and pick up clients that came down as tourists with money and a hard drinking habit. That would be 20 people for a day cruise or10 overnight if the crew slept in the dingy, now I would just get the right tide and set off in an 6 man emergency raft and a few months later paddle towards the place the sun comes up and that is the 'retirement resting spot'.

In this day and age you should be able to visit any bar in the world on 'your phone' and your pic appears on a virtual wall that allows interaction with the 'digital staff' that is accurate down to the freckles. Customers would do like they do at any bar, gather is small clusters and mingle all over the place. g00gle has the street view so only the HQ animated digital avatars need to be added and then a topic being the catalyst for an active interchange. About here a TSA joke would be inserted. VR components would help users use controllers that allow multiple players to operate the same character's total abilities to the point the controlers would hold the wheels of an person's actual vehicle if racing or flying was something 4 people could do just as easily as 1 person could and it is more exciting for the other 3 than being static witnesses. Somebody in a wheelchair might want to drive a high-powered rock crawler in Banff National Park after it has been digitized using g00gle cameras on a chopper. Drive something a litter sleeker from Calgary to there and then start the off-road fun before doing the Lake Louise/Jasper run in anything you want from high-speed to bicycle and the quality of the graphics would change to fit the mode. (no tar marks in the road in the graphic version but every one that is in the real road is in the simulated race ready road) VR Sites should be the next attraction that allows the public to gather in mass (Wal-mart parking lot after 11PM) or in your driveway or garage or rec-room.

Using data from traffic cams should also be something the 'home subscriber' be able to access to fill in the bandwidth that will be available in the same form.
