Lotsa potassium though - one of nature's marvels....

Argggg, the Chiquita and Dole advertising campaign.

Lots of foods have more potassium, without all the sugar or high glycemic index. I'm not anti-banana or anything though. They're also a good food to eat if you have diarrhea. The pectin in them helps bind up the extra water.

what is the difference between posting a link to another site in your profile and spamming?

Spamming would be opening a thread just to 'sell' people on another forum, or placing a link in the main forum pages.

Placing a link in your profile is simply telling others a bit about where you like to hang.

I am well aware of that. Yet just two weeks ago I posted a request for links to other forums to be sent to me via PM and that was removed. Im told I can't post my personal website because it contains a forum. I don't know what the rules say, actually, but I know what the mods say....

and i've even seen a member banned for having a forum link in their profile

but hey, whatever you say andem. You say, we obey, that's the way it has to be, or you'd have to ban us all eventually. I'm really not that upset about it, I just find that the way the issue is treated seems a little inconsistent at times.

We draw the line when we notice the whole active memberlist of a particular forum were poached from CC ;-) More than just a profile link eh.

This is what the forum rules say:

8. Links to personal websites such as personal blogs, articles and biographies are allowed at anytime (providing they are suitable) if they are not of a commercial nature and/or do not promote/host a forum. If they don't conform as such, you must have at least 500 posts at CanadianContent and you must receive prior approval from an administrator. Such promotion is limited to the Website forum area and profiles. Advertising in signatures is not acceptable regardless of the number of posts;

These are guidelines, and common sense should apply. Chris doesn't have an issue supporting people when things are done in good faith. Feel free to post your website in the website forum. I also understand you've had your site listed in your profile since day one, so it's not about "can't" post it. It is posted.

I've also seen psican.com, and another of triedit's forums posted in the "other forums you're members of" thread. Along with a TON of other forums.

Few people bother with that pesky 'prior approval from an admin' thing though....

You know, unless I had the money, resources and time to put into my own website, it more or less behooves me to adhere and respect the concerns of a site owner who has accepted my application to be a member of his home.

I don't know about anybody else, but I will respect Andem's rules and the guidance of his team. To do otherwise is very provocative (at the very least) in my opinion.

just a side note here...

I know it's been mentioned a few times of late, but we often forget that the forums here are not the meat and potatoes of this site - they are more or less a 'gift' to us from Andem - the gravy if you will, to The(Real)Canadian Content site

The confusion around how and when the rules for posting links is likely due to the fact that they are actually only loosely enforced. Only when the posting of links etc causes a direct conflict or competition to this site does anyone usually see us getting involved.
