little known fact
at the risk of being accused of stealing Forest Gump's thunder, I was the very first person on Planet Earth to say the words "may the fourth be with you", May 4, 1978, the very first May 4th after the movie STAR WARS came out in '77.
It occurred to me naturally because until then on May 4ths I had always said "what's the May 4 code for today?"
You see, our local AM radio station, CKMP, serving Midland/Penetang and southern Georgian Bay, would broadcast daily during boating season the MAFOR Code (pronounced 'mayfor') meaning "marine forecast" for the day. So of course, me being me, would say out loud, often to no one lol, whenever a May 4th would roll along, "I wonder what the May 4 code is for today?", and on that same day, since I had recently seen the movie, I followed it with "May the 4th be with you!"
believe or don't
I'm sure it occurred to others too
but ME FIRST!
