Decriminalized. The police waste too much money on this drug at the expense of others. Target the meth-labs that explode on a whim and not the after-school special and his friends who smoke a joint before playing mario kart.

In my opinion, in terms of canabis, I think that possession of the substance in minor-to-moderate amounts should not be a criminal offense; rather, I think that we could have quite a device to combat the debt if we were to begin the licensed sale of canabis through Government-sanctioned vendors.

It should perhaps be noted here that the Government of Canada had put forth legislation to the effect of removing some of the criminal offenses in relation to canabis possession from the Criminal Code of Canada, through Bill C-17, An Act to amend the Contraventions Act and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts. The legislation was struck from the order paper when the 38th Parliament of Canada was dissolved by proclaimation on November 28, 2006, in response to an expression of non-confidence in the Government.

Legalised and taxed. I heard a while back that weed is the third largest industry in BC. Between that and the Flin Flon mines, the government would be raking in millions. Not to mention that if its legalised, this problem of grow ops should, in theory, go away.

LittleRunningGag,

Legalising marijuana in canada would not make the grow-ops go away. So long as there is an illegal market south of the border, there would be an industry to fulfill said market.

I absolutely support the idea of legalization for taxation; we have a debt in the area of around $500 000 000 000, and any constructive avenue of raising more funds for the debt repayment program should be quite seriously considered, in my opinion.

Would that include banning Liberals from government? Considering all the money you would have available when it isn't involved in scandals.

Flin Flon is in Manitoba....

Yeah, that's where the Gov't decided to attempt to cultivate an 'experimental' crop for the possible use of medical purposes. I have no clue who in the Gov't thought up that bright idea. I mean really...They finally decide to grow for the attempt of a greater purpose, and instead of going to where pot grows well (ie BC) and actually hiring people with experience (also in BC) they grow it in an abandoned mine in Manitoba, and NO one working on the project had an ounce (pun intended) of experience in growing shit, In the end they ended up with Bunk weed that was usless...I think the experiment was made to fail, it's not a secret where good stuff comes from, unless the Gov't is more blind than I thought.

My friend is so paranoid, he thinks everyone is out to get him. But so does my ex-husband, and he never touches the stuff.

Legalize pot, I don't smoke it and I hate the smell. But let's get the police and lawyers doing more productive work. Credit card fraud say, or walking the beat more to make women feel safer on the streets. White collar criminals get away with much worse damage to society.

I highly doubt the government would even let people cultivate it.

what's everyones opinion on marijuana in canadian society?

should it be illegal? legalized? decriminalized?

what about other drugs?

It should be legalized without a doubt. Even heroin & crack should be legalized, although perhaps perscribed only by doctor. This war on drugs is a black hole... victory is not possible nor desirable.
