I could do this.

Once I pulled into an Irving, filled the tank, went in, took $100 out of the ATM, picked up a newspaper and stood in line to pay, reading the front page. I got to the counter, the clerk said "one dollar, please", I reached in my pocket, handed him a loonie, and walked out. Outside, my son, who was not with me but had seen the car there, greeted me and I offered him a ride to his house, we got in and drove away.....

FIVE HOURS LATER, I wondered how much money I had, and looked in my wallet to find $100 and thought "How can that be? I bought.....OH MY GOD!" Unfortunately, I was in Fredericton, 100 kms away, at the time, so I called my wife, who got me the number, and I called the station.....went in the next day and paid.

The manager told me he knew I couldn't be a drive away, because the police were fueling up next to me, and I crawled out of the station as they watched....

Stupid!
LOL, nice they didn't create a scene while you were driving off.

I have actually witnessed this before.
I watched a man, drive up to the corner store ( We were there having a coffee and visiting) He came in, bought some pop and a newspaper, then proceed to walk out of the store.......past his car.......and all the way home. He apparently came back a few hours later and picked up his car.

It sure is nice to know that others forget too, eh?

I also have this "thing" that happens if I'm going to a new place but it's along the route of somewhere I go regularly. An example: while trying to drive to BCIT to pick up a textbook I had to drive past the cat shelter I volunteer at...I drove up to the cat shelter, parked and got out of my car only to realize that's NOT where I was going.

Often if I get into the car and drive and talk I'll head to work...hubby will say "where the hell are we going?" and that's when the brain actually kicks in...I think it's a form of auto pilot...

I think that if you fill up with gas and then forget your car, you shouldn't drive any more...

I once forgot my dog at the mall....I've never felt so bad. I'd gone in, bought some groceries and then got into a cab and went home. The drive back to the mall has never been so long...all I could think about was that he was waiting for me and he was alone...The guilt still hurts and this was like 10 yrs ago!
Oh Twila, I am sorry, I know that was traumatic and all but that got me giggling. Primarily because from your posts I can tell you are an animal lover freak. I would have just been ill, so sorry, but I am still laughing over that one.

Then again, I'm usually the only one in the room who gaffaws when someone falls before finding out if they knocked out a tooth.

I carried my 7th out of the hospital in his car seat...walked to the trunk of the car and started fishing for my keys...my wife looked at me and asked "where are you going to put him?"
Oh geez, another howl from me in the same thread. Sorry gerry... :lol:

lol at autopilot Twila - I'm afflicted with that often.

Still sheepish about something I did almost 13 years ago when my daughter was about a week old. I went for groceries and purposefully chose a store that offered a service where they put your groceries in a cart after you pay for them, then you drive to their bay doors and they load them into the car for you. After buying the groceries, I decided to wander the mall for a bit and do a little Christmas shopping.

When I got home, I put the baby to bed, and went to get the groceries out of the car. That's when I realized I'd left without my groceries. Fortunately they were still there when I was able to get them hours later.

I also almost drove off with my son sitting in his car seat on top of the car on my first day back to work after maternity leave. I was in a state with trying to learn how to adjust our morning schedules, granted - but I actually had the car in reverse - when I looked back to start backing out of my parking spot, I noticed no baby in the back seat! I scared myself pretty badly with that one. 8O iy yi yi.

Fugetabouddittt!!

Thank you people. Thank you. Thank you.

I thought I was the only one!!!

I thought I was losing my mind, although whether I have one at all is debatable sometimes8O

:lol::lol::lol:.............forgetting the dog!!!...................shame!!!:-:)-(........kidding;-)
:lol::lol::lol:.........forgetting the car!!!.............Jebus, I feel G R E A T !!!!
SERIOUSLY!!!

Out to the shop to get a pair of vicegrips. Forget the keys to the shop. Back into the house. Out to the shop. Forget why I'm there. Sit. Wait. Bring in a hammer. I thought I was THE ONLY ONE!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Gol durn, youse have made my day.............not the first time........(Where's that smiley for great big wet smooches, like the kind ya get from a dog, eh..?)............(even one you forget).........................sorry:p

I have to use fridgenotes just to get up in the morning. No way ever do I cross the threshold of the grocery store without a note concerning what to buy. Or a compass to get me home.........(nah)

Me deer asks me to vacuum the back porch cause it is a mess, and I say yes, and write, watch, play, do some more of what I'm doin, then walk out...........................IT'S GONE!!! If it's not written down, it's gone.

Yep, the mind is the first thing to go, (thank whasshisname) and the other thing, apparently, is a close second. I just can't remember at the moment, what the other thing is......Anybody got a post-it note?

For Christmas I am getting a GPS. But you guys have made me feel better about yesterday.

Left for work. Had decided where I was going the night before. Changed my mind in the morning. Fine. Head out go to make a right hand turn onto a busy street that leads to the Expressway....Road Closed. Okay no problem. Head off to the next nearest expressway exit except I can't remember which exit goes east and which goes west. Not that it really would have mattered since east and west mean almost zero to me.

Phone the man, nope no answer. Think I've figured it out. Get onto the expressway and decide, nope this is the wrong direction. Get off next exit. It's the detour one...oops... turn left... realize nope, that was the correct way.... turn around, get back on.

Feeling good, feeling confident, increase speed, zooming along nicely. I'm in the wrong lane for the overpass......... start to head to the over pass, realize noooooooooooooooooo that is not the store you are going to this morning...... DON'T change lanes....

I was so frigging frazzled.

Apparently a GPS is now going to be under the tree. :D

LOL Sal, I can relate to that. I had to go to a different town for a photography session a couple of weeks ago. I forgot the address so I got it off their website. I drove in circles for about half and hour, then completely frazzled I phoned the place asking them to decribe in laymens terms how to find it. It turned out the address they have on the site is only their mailing address. The real address was a couple miles away. GRR.
