I had a confrontation with a guy a few weeks before Christmas. I won't say where or over what, but he was adamant that I was a Mother****** and he was going to kick my ***. I calmly dropped my hands to my side and said. "Go ahead." He was at least 20 years young than I and may well have got the better of me. After he choked I explained that there were cameras everywhere, even pointed a few out. He said he was going to get me outside the place where he was challenging me. When I got outside he was nowhere to be found. I'm glad, I'm getting too old for this kind of crap, but I will never stand by and watch someone get beaten down. All it takes is one or two people to step up in a situation like this and the herd mentality turns from flight to fight.

At one time I would have jumped right in. Help or not. Now I am not so sure. With age come slower reactions and lack of mobility. Now I would at least like a chunk of 2X4 on my side.
that's exactly what I was thinking... now a broken bone and being smashed about makes me way more cautious

I would'nt have hesitated in attempting to end the beating even if it mean't taking a few hits in the process. I'm baffled as to why those on the train or platform did nothing. Sh*t like this goes against everything I expect of mankind.

Hopefully this leads to Edmonton establishing (or expanding if they already have) a transit police force.
