Is it really justice though? This is the equivalent of busting a guy who sells drugs to feed his own habit instead of going after the kingpins. In this case the kingpins have their offices in the White House.

There is a whole chain of people who share responsibility for this and tey have walked away scott free.

nope. she is the fall guy. ........who happened to get caught on camera.....and "they" had no choice. but to 'make an example of her" The chain of command all the way up to the top is left unscathed.

Well yeah...there is that...

...it just pissed me off that she got away with it the first time around though...that's what I meant by that...

I've given up holding any hope that the perpetrators will ever be brought to justice...may posthumously a 100 years from now when the US has finally recovered from this feckin' mess...

Or not, Vanni - I can point you to a site in which the vast majority STILL think that Nixon got shafted by back-stabbers and the "pinko-media".

She may not be the ringleader in all this abuse but she's 100% as guilty as the rest of them. What a wacko she is, doing this to impress her boyfriend because he asked her to. Thought you needed to be an adult to join the Reserves. Well good thing for her that he didn't ask her to commit murder or just burn them for them or some other type of torture.

And what a catch this guy sounds like eh? Bet his new son will be proud of pappa.

Nobody is saying that she's innocent, bevvyd. At the Nuremburg trials after WWII it was determined that, "I was only following orders," is not an excuse. It is illegal to follow illegal orders.

Seeing her, likely the least responsible of the bunch, be the focus of the investigation and the trials is ridiculous though. This is a girl who, as you noted, did whatever she was told. There was very little effort into finding out who told who what though.

Since the evidence of torture elsewhere in Iraq, as well as in Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, keeps on trickling out it is apparent that the problem is systemic. That system starts in George Bush's office.

I hear ya Rev. I remember hubby chuckling about the thought of the 'Superiors' being investigated and charged. What a joke.

I think that Brigadier who ran that prison (Abu Ghraib)should of been thrown in jail. Instead all she got was a demotion to Colonel.

But thats the way it usually goes, the lowest people get jail and punished while the officers, cabinet and president get nothing. Its not right.

Up to just a few days ago several right wingers on this forum were bemoaning the "light" prison sentence [lifetime in jail without parole] given to Chai Vang because he killed several people in Wisconsin.

Here, Private England participated in the rape-torture of innocent Iraqis some of whom committed suicide or who died from the cruel tortures.

Since a lifetime prison sentence was "light" for Vang, the death penalty would be only too light for England. Let's see if those same right wingers apply a uniform standard by saying the same thing.

They have to remain silent. They spent months trying to pretend that this wasn't serious at all...just a school-boy hazing ritual. It was clearly much more than that and it has become clear that the US military, with tacit consent from the Bush regime, has been torturing people.

can't wait for the trials on this matter of Rumsfeld, Bush and the Military command structure. If the poor grunt got 3 years, they should be getting 30, cos they were responsible.
