Wrong! Robichaud was only our Premier..never a Prime minister. And the comparison to Castro is hardly a compliment, tho I doubt you meant it as one.

Missile: You're right...Premier instead of Prime Minister.
My reference to Castro was meant to be "tongue in cheak", nothing more, although you can't deny Castro is one of a h*** of an orator, obviously, not always with the right message.

Little Louis was a man who made perhaps the biggest difference to NB. Before him, like many provinces, the schools were funded on a county by county basis; if you grew up in one of the cities, the schools were well funded; teachers well paid, and the schools were good. Outside of the cities, the whole education system was dismal. Poorly paid teachers doing a poor job....he brought in what was called the Equal Opportunity program.
Under this program, the province collected the property taxes for the whole province, and took over the whole education system, social services, the works. The school system was revamped so that a quality education, with teachers all properly qualified, properly paid, etc etc.

He advanced the whole social system so much, it was incredible. Every generation since owes him a great debt.
