I will say this much for the Liberals - I don't think that most Liberals dislike the military, or are against the military. The military ad is due to one, or both, of two things...
1) Horrendous oversight. In attacking Stephen Harper, they never botherred to stop to think about who they might inadvertently strike along with him in that attack. This is stupid at best, and gross negligence at worst.
2) Within the minds of some on the far left, the military is inherently evil. I've read enough anti-Iraq war arguments to know this to be a fact. It could be - I don't know, but it could conceivably be - that the creators of this ad really do dislike the military. *Shrug*. If so, this ad is absolutely despicable in the strongest sense of the term
I have to say... I am amazed by Liberal supporters on this board who are so blinded by their political alliegances as to not rightly critisize this attack ad. At best, this ad was stupid. At worst, it was absolutely despicable. It was probably inbetween - it was probably gross negligence.
IF Paul Martin apologizes to the Canadian military, then so be it. If he doesn't, him and his party deserves every last criticism on the matter, and electoral self-destruction.
This is the most vicious, totally out of context, and incendiary political attack ad that I've ever seen. Voting for the Liberals in this election has become completely unconscienable, in my view. If you care about the Canadian military (who have been MASSIVELY hurt by this ad - I've read numerous qoutes from them on the sites of news sources like CBC, and CTV), then I would implore you to not vote Liberal.
