Where are you getting the idea that there was ketchup on it.? There isn't. It is just good dark gravy.

Yeah, I can see that on my monitor, but, if a monitor was just a little bit different in colour I can see how it would look different. The tricky thing about sharing images on the net.

You are right of course.

Speaking of snow...We are supposed to get some snow tonight, and again tomorrow morning, and a few times more over the course of the next week. I just can't wait to get out there and shovel....NOT.....:roll:;-)

The drifts were so high here this morning that hubby and I took an hour to shovel the driveway. It will probably take us another hour to get the sidewalks. 4 collective hours... yeesh. I think we're going out for a snow blower. lol.

In the other thread about simple recipes, I gave a recipe for Irish Stew. I think that is an excellent way to get rid of chicken, beef or indeed any leftovers, especially when you are out camping. I can do no better than to reproduce it here.

Here is a recipe for Irish Stew. This is suitable when you go camping; prepare it for the last dinner. This is an excellent way of getting rid of the leftovers.

Put water to boil in a pot on fire (you can cook it outside, on the campfire). Peel a few potatoes and add to the pot, crack a few eggs and add to it.

This makes the base. Now, add any leftovers you may have. Perhaps leftover sausages from breakfast, piece of toast, half a can of tuna, half a leftover sandwich, remove the corn from that half eaten cob and put it in there. And yes, also leftover chicken and beef.

You can also add any seasoning you may like. Let it simmer for an hour or so., mix it with a ladle and serve.

Last weekend we had a huge country ham. I went through the usual things. Soaked it in water overnight.. Changed the water and simmered the ham with a couple onions and carrots for a few hours. I took it out of the water, let it cool for an hour or so and boned it. I then spread a honey/mustard glaze all over it and baked it for a couple hours. We had a great meal that first night. Over the next couple days we had more than a few sandwiches from it. I was going to freeze it but we heard that company was coming from out of town. I cut four thick ham steaks and made more scalloped potatoes. The rest of that ham is now in the freezer where it will stay for at least the next month or so.

After St. Patricks Day my favorite leftover is chopping all the corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatos from the boiled dinner and frying it all up making a hash.

I'm the only one in my family who will eat corned beef and cabbage etc. I love it but if I want it, I have to make it for myself. I've done a similar hash thing as well and I end up eating that by myself too.

When I roasted meat with taters and had leftovers, the next day I've put them into boiling water/beef stock with onions, chopped peppers, seasonings, and made a Mulligan stew.

Apply Cheez-whiz liberally to a slice of bread. Place roast beef on it. Salt and pepper to taste. Put another slice on top. Enjoy.

LOL, so not much of a recipe. But that's what I do with left-overs from most roasts. Chicken and turkey I don't add anything but salt and pepper, and occasionally some sliced swiss cheese.

Rice, of course I have to make the chicken fried rice.

Left-over boiled potatoes become farmer potatoes. Slice into cubes. Throw into wok with table spoon of butter. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Salt and pepper to taste.

I've looked at this recipe for a year or two now. My problem is that I can't stand Cheezwhiz. I used ordinary sharp Cheddar cheese and grilled the sandwich.....works pretty well...:smile:
