I was going to respond to your post and explain few things ,but I've changed my mind ,let me just say that people of average mentality have the ability to talk about the daily events ,those with below average mentality ,they talk about other people .You usually find these people on the left side of the spectrum.Those with above average mentality ,dont talk ,they produce .It is very fair thing to say (kind of scarry too) that if not of the Right ,Canada would be a 3rd world country.
Can you explain what do you mean by communal prncipal ?/do you need to live in a commune because you don't know how to take care of yourself or you are just a lazy bum....what the f...is the social solidarity ???do you know what "solidarity " is ,,,not what it means,ant the "careful balance of both ??// man you are not slightly leaning to the left , you are a fully pledged libereal or an ndp,er with mouth full off safisticated jarrgon ,and no substane behind it.

Somewhat but as you get far left and far right (which none of our political parties here in Canada are) the spectrum and what they believe in get extremely skewed, and lines blur.
I'm a left-righty. A Social Socialist, and an economic neo-labour democrat, I guess you could call me. My economics are close to Tony Blairs.

I'm not too sure what your problem is but let me make myslef clear.
There is the individual and there is the mass of beings. The mass of beings seems to have a life of its own, as does the individual.
If you look at the story of your life with a minimum of objectivity, you will find that a lot of it consists of a struggle between the desire to be unique (an individual) and a desire to be part of everything (the mass). There is a constant battle between both needs. My understanding of "left" and "right" has to do with this concept. "Left" = mass... everything... while "right" =individuality... uniqueness.
From this fairly neutral way of understanding the left and right concept, I really don't see why one would be worst than another.
It's a bit like Yin and Yang, both principles are completely essential.

You are most likely born from a mother and father and most likely have something that you can call a family. This family is partly responsible for the way you've become an individual . In the same way, the society that you consider yours is your "family" and you are intimately connected to this social construct.

Like you said, we are indeed all unique. Not hard to figure that out. But for a strong majority of people on this planet, your uniqueness is irrelevant; you are just another stranger.
Your socio-cultural upbringing (your heritage) is the main building material of your individuality and it really belongs to a larger whole. You didn't invent your culture and it that sense, you didn't invent yourself. We are always part of a 'larger whole' and a lot more times than you think, this 'larger whole' acts through you. For example, all your biological needs are not an expression of your individuality but of the human species (the larger whole).
In a riot, most participants are not acting as individuals but as 'part of the crowd'. "The crowd" has a life of it's own.

An out of control "left" denies the individual needs of each and necessarily ends up favouring a few individuals to the disadvantage of many.
