This is the piece from the LINK in the OP that made me go, "Huh?"

Mr. Grant said a brain injury would interfere with a lawyer’s ability to multi-task, to concentrate, organize and express complex thoughts.

“That might not prevent them from working in a factory, it might not prevent them from lots of jobs. But it might completely stop them in their tracks from being a lawyer,” Mr. Grant said. “You could have the exact same injury on someone who cleans pools for a living and there is zero loss of income.”

Oh well...

Maybe now she can clean pools au gratis, as she is already rich!.

I wouldn't hold my breath. 8O8O
If she hadn't have been drinking I could possibly see awarding the poor baby $100,000- a lot of people have sh*t happen to them and just suck it up. I guess that's just folks with character and pride.

If someone is in school for upgrading, to raise their grades, so that they
qualify for some occupation which they haven't even enrolled in that
training for....that would currently pay.....$50/hr....and the same thing
happens to them, & they're also about 30yrs old, what's their potential
income loss?

Lets say it's training towards being an Operating Room Nurse, and not
something requires the ability to multi-task, to concentrate, organize, &
express complex thoughts like a Lawyer.

Is it $50 x 40hrs/wk x 52wks/yr x 35+ years? Is it, "thanks for coming out?"

Don't get me wrong, as I know well & respect a couple of Lawyers locally,
but it's NOT a separate segment of the population that only requires the skills
listed above.
